When the Indian Govt briefly banned both the VHP and the RSS, Modiji went on a trip to the US in 1993.

He was greeted on arrival by late Suresh Jani of New Jersey, who had in 1992 co-founded the Overseas Friends of the BJP (OFBJP).

The late Suresh Jani comes from the same village in Gujarat as Modi, and the two meet at a gathering of RSS according to TOI report 26/9/14.

Jani immigrated to the United States in 1987. Six years later, Modi visited the US, he stayed with Jani at his New Jersey home. 3/11

The OFBJP was launched in America in April 1992. Suresh Jani was the co-founder.

Modi also stayed at Dr. Bharat Barai's house in Chicago who was then a member of VHP America in 1993.

Bharat Barai continued to influence the Indian Diaspora greatly in the coming years. 4/11

In 2005, the US denied MODI a visa after he was invited to speak at an Indian diaspora event in Florida.

Anyways, Bharat Barai continued work promoting Modi.
Modi was projected as an economic messiah who introduced the world to the Gujarat model of development. 5/11

Bharat Barai on Every Gujarat Day, in May 2007, began hosting video conferences in which Modi addressed the Indian diaspora.

Modi's 2014 election followed a three-year campaign by OFBJP operatives in the US, began with training camps in 2011, US by RSS & BJP in 2012. 6/11

In 2013 then BJP Prz Rajnath Singh toured US & Modi gave 3 vid conferences.
A team of 650 led by Barai in person travelled to India.

1. Organize phone-banks for Indian-Americans to call back to India & tell people to vote for BJP.

2. Finance Modi victory fund.

3. Travel back India & campaign for BJP. Like a sleeper cell waiting for orders, the group sprung into action in Jan 2014. 8/11

In 2013 over 1000 people turned up to watch Modi deliver a live, televised address to OFBJP-US’s annual convention in Florida.

Nationwide, then OFBJP-US Prez Chandrakant Patel said that 1000s of activists were making 200 calls or more per day to influence voters in India. 9/11

Modi was announced as the PM on 12/5/14. The OFBJP-US hosted victory parties throughout America.
This same repeated in the 2019 election.
