2/21 @nitin_gadkari, @OfficeOfNG, @MORTHIndia At 81.358 km (Laxmindra Nagar) a median opening (hereinafter abbreviated as MO) (‘U’-turn) was created on 26.09.2022 by some local persons having commercial interests along both sides of the NH.
3/21 @nitin_gadkari, @OfficeOfNG, @MORTHIndia IRC:SP:84:2019 Manual of Specs and Stds for 4-laning of highways Sec 2.14.1 “In built up area, MO shall be provided as per site requirement and the spacing between two MsO in built up area shall not be less than 500 m.”
4/21 @nitin_gadkari, @OfficeOfNG, @MORTHIndia Site is absolutely unsuitable for a MO. A MO which existed about 10-15 m West of current location, was closed down when the same road was not NH, but SH-65, due to many accidents some of which even resulted in deaths.
5/21 @nitin_gadkari, @OfficeOfNG, @MORTHIndia Please see Sketch below. A MO exists 0.48 km towards the West and a major road junction 0.90 km to the East. Moreover the location is in a prominent dip, sloping down from East and sloping up Westwards.
6/21 @nitin_gadkari, @OfficeOfNG, @MORTHIndia No authority has accorded permission for the MO. Query to Dy Commissioner Udupi was forwarded to Urban Development Cell who forwarded it further to AEE NH Sub-Divsion PWD, Shringeri. No approval/permission accorded by AEE or Police.
7/21 @nitin_gadkari, @OfficeOfNG, @MORTHIndia No permission by agency responsible for maintenance of the NH (PWD), no permission by agency responsible for law and order as well as traffic control (Police). Yet NH dug open to create MO. No authority bothers about it.

14/21 @nitin_gadkari, @OfficeOfNG, @MORTHIndia At 81.27 km. No such sign exists either in IRC:67-2022 or in MV Act 88 as amended by MV Amdt Act 2019 or in MoRT&H Book on Road Safety Signage and Signs. So it becomes mandatory for all motorists to take a ‘U’-turn here!
