Anyone in Canada can get me back into Canada without my Canadian passport? I am stuck at Gatwick and Canada is blocking my travel because I have my Polish passport on me. It’s a crazy, silly administrative issue and I need help.
There is no one to call. Just endless Canadian websites.
In Canada, when I left @AirCanada said this would not be a problem. Not happy.
@donotfearLord Also I made mention of the Canadian one. It’s that one that is blocking me from boarding.
@AirCanada So I missed the flight because: (1) I was given incorrect information by airline representatives; and (2) the Canadian system that knows I have a Canadian passport won’t let me into Canada because I don’t have my Canadian passport on me.

Make that make sense 🤦‍♀️
@TangoWhiskeyDog I would have applied 10 days ago when I arrived here. If I was given the correct information!
@AirCanada Now I’m at the airport dumbfounded because now I am not sure what to do. Wait for this electronic passport to be issued or get the passport couriered to me.

This is not smart #Canada, not smart at all.
@AirCanada To be very clear of the absurdity of this situation, if I didn’t have a Canadian passport I would be let into Canada no problem. 🤯
@AirCanada Ok can anyone translate this to me? What does it even say??
Image
Image
@AirCanada Perhaps @canada you can also use spell check before you send standard form letters around the world….
@AirCanada @Canada Feel free also @canada to provide any clarification about how this makes any sense. Would be much appreciated.
@AirCanada @Canada My response. As I still don’t understand what is going on and why… Image
@AirCanada @Canada I’m thinking of an older person like my mom going through this. Not good. Not good at all….
@AirCanada @Canada They are doing a prayer in the airport in 30 mins. I might join and pray for Canada. 🇨🇦😬
@AirCanada @Canada Nothing yet. No email, no phone call. Image
@AirCanada @Canada The email I got provided contact detailed for the UK High Commission. It bounced back… Image
@AirCanada @Canada Tried using this website and guess what?! Another error message! 🤯

@AirCanada @Canada Really @AirCanada? You need to send this to your representatives. I specifically asked your representatives when I flew out if this was an issue. Image
So just spoke to High Commission in London, it is worse than I thought. If I don’t get this authorization (that will cancel my Canadian passport), which she has no idea how long I should wait, then I can apply for a special travel document that can take up to 3 days.

Or I fly into the US and drive into Canada today.

🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🇨🇦🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Maybe second time is a charm? I got a similar email from another agent about the special authorization with a couple extra questions. The email and my response below👇

I rebooked my flight. But 5 hours later, still have no idea if I can board it.

The crazy thing is, they will cancel my Canadian passport so I can legally fly to Canada. 🧐

@canadavisa_com is this really what you intended when you made and apply these rules? Do you think this rule needs to be revisited?

Apparently they needed a signed document from me. Although they didn’t specify in their second email that was the issue. I’m at the airport, without any office equipment. So I had to write it out and take a picture.

Again, I could not imagine this happening to an elderly person. Or someone with kids. But really it is a

UPDATE - I now have permission to travel back to Canada. What a crazy crazy crazy counterintuitive resolution. Not sure if my Canadian passport is going to be cancelled or not, didn’t say in this email.

We agree to be governed because we expect public goods and services in return for the taxes we pay. But if these processes and systems are pointless or ineffective, should we not demand that it be better for all Canadians?

The reason I am doing what I am doing, is that I hope we can create a better Canada for all. Let’s demand high quality and effective public goods and survives from our government. We are paying dearly for them anyways…

@AirCanada @Canada Dear @R_Boissonnault, as my MP, I would really like to speak to you about this experience and a couple other matters I originally wrote to you about. Could you please respond to my email request for a meeting. The request was made quite some time ago.

Thank you in advance.
@AirCanada @Canada @R_Boissonnault Compare this to my debacle today👇

Excellent article makes you think twice about whether those in government are serving the public or their own self-interest👇

“The economist James M. Buchanan received a Nobel Prize for his pioneering work that demonstrated a simple idea: Public officials tend to arrive at decisions based on self-interest and incentives, just like everyone else.

There’s a common assumption that politicians and bureaucrats make decisions differently than the rest of us, that they’re working for “the common good.” But Buchanan understood—and persuasively showed—that humans don’t become altruistic angels simply because they’ve accepted a government job. They continue to serve their private interests in public office, which should not surprise us since all action is individual action…
“Of course, those in government are loath to admit that anything as crass as “private interests” could motivate their thinking. Indeed, their power (and political future) rests on the idea that they are serving interests far greater than themselves.

Yet much of the machinery of… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
““If men were angels, no government would be necessary,” James Madison wrote in Federalist 51. “If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary.”

This is precisely why government needs a limiting principle, one that restricts its use to the protection of life, liberty, and property.

“Once the principle is admitted that it is the duty of the government to protect the individual against his own foolishness, no serious objections can be advanced against further encroachments,” wrote the economist Ludwig von Mises.

Absent such a limiting principle, we end up with lawmakers—all of whom are far from angels.” (Reference below)
