For nearly a decade I have been witnessing this strange paradox related to how Oakland is “marketed”- on one hand it was called one of the most desirable travel destinations in the WORLD while at the same time billed as the poster child for everything wrong in society
This egregious form of “dog whistle politics” certainly benefits SOMEBODY and certainly not the marginalized folks who reside here
Nobody chooses to move to Oakland to pay top ten rent or buy homes here at an expensive price just to live in a “hellhole”. The math aint mathing- certainly I am not fooled nor confused about the fact that Oakland is a “Diamond in the Rough”
