The Story of Thomas Warui Njoka alias Tomaso Gagula.

The Rich Kid who became Nairobi's Most Wanted Gangster

THREAD: Image
Tomaso Gagula was born in 1994 as Thomas Warui Njoka.

He was the 2nd born child & 1st born son to David Njoka -a Senior Manager at the Ministry of Health and Catherine Timitra Njoka -a peer Counsellor at Kenyatta University. Image
Together with his siblings, he was brought up in a perfect family with excellent family morals & values since his mom was a devout christian who doubled as a peer counsellor at Kenyatta University. Image
Surprisingly unlike most gangsters who are born in slums, Tomaso grew up in Langata Estate which was arguably a suburb for the rich and affluent in Kenya during the late early 2000s.

Here, he was able to make friends easily since he was a social kid. Image
Like most Kenyan parents who love their kids, Tomaso took his P.E in Nairobi & after performing exemplary well he joined Pioneer School a private school in Maragua for his secondary.

Sadly while in Form 2, he was involved in an indiscipline case that had him expelled. Image
This was a let down to his family esp his father who had sacrificed alot to give him the best life he never had.

Moreover, it is after this expulsion that Tomaso Gagula chose to drop out of school completely a decision that further widened the gap between father and son rlship. Image
Due to the unfavorable environment at home b/c of his parents incessant pleas for him to go back to school, Tomaso decided to leave home for good.

He packed his little belongings & went to Kayole where he rented a small house. Here he would find the peace he wanted, he thought Image
Coming from an affluent family he was fascinated by the thrill of ghetto life and it is here in Kayole that he found his love for Matatu Culture.

He'd spend most of his days hanging around touts and just like the adage goes, he became one. Image
One person who ushered him into touting life was the dreaded gangster Kevo Lumidee who was also a tout.

Kevo Lumidee who later died after posting on FB he had little time left on earth since the police were on his ass, was the founder of Mauki Family Gang. Image
Due to Tomaso's great interpersonal skills, Kevo Lumidee helped him secure a job as a tout for a new manyaga in Kayole called TellaBang.

It's now that his journey as a tout began. To show his joy, he even got silver teeth to embrace his new found life and blend in well. Image
Together with his crew they spent their days plying the busy Kayole- CBD route while enjoying the sweet herb of Wajackoya.

This according to him was the best life ever. Image
If not at work he'd spend his days and nights enjoying the sweet juicy plant from Meru. Image
And dancing to Reggae Music at his favorite clubs . Image
He was so popular in these joints that even celebrated Reggae Dj and Founder of Rastyle Ent Muzikal Sherriff was his personal friend.

This is long before the Dj became a Household name. Image
It is this love he had for Reggae Music that also had him travel to Ukambani for the burial of Celebrated MC Daddy Konia who had passed away during the Westgate Mall Terror Attack . Image
Sadly unbeknownst to many, this lifestyle was not solely supported by his touting career but by his criminal activity he'd started doing at night with his friends. Image
During the day, he was tout for this Matatu Tella Bang

But at night he'd be one amongst a gang of robbers and car jackers.

Police suspected this but couldn't pin him down due to lack of evidence so they could only wait. Image
Lakini kama wasemavyo, siku za mwizi ni arobaine.

On one of his expeditions when they hijacked a Matatu at night, a witness said that she could recognize the voice of 1 hijacker as that of a tout she knows.

That voice of was none other than Tomaso. Image
You would think that with his blown uncovered Tomaso would lay low like an envelope but wapi...NOT HIM.

Tomaso continued with his day to day job thinking that he's the smoothest criminal ever after Michael Jackson.

Together with his Team Chafua they continued to rock the Regge Image
On March 12 2014, Tomaso together with his crew tried to rob a Petrol Station along Kang'undo Road.

However they were unsuccessful and fled the scene since the police were now on their radar. Image
The next day the Disiyai police approached his parents at their Langata home asking them to please save their son and him to Gishagi since he was now treading on murky waters.

But like most parents, his parents denounced the claims of the police as utter nonsense. Image
On that same day his parents called him to ask him about what the police claimed and after refuting those claims as baseless he posted on his FB account this warning to Disiyai Detectives...

Clearly he wasn't afraid Image
Aug 12 he went for his last mission at South C.

They ambushed a resident who was waiting for his gate to open with a firearm and sandwiched the victim . Later they drove off towards JKIA where they threw him off the car.

Luckily he was unharmed and went ahead to report. Image
2 days later, plain clothes officers received an unexpected lead. The stolen vehicle with 3 occupants was seen parked at Buruburu Shopping Centre at 11:30PM.

The officers waited to pounce and when the occupants left the vehicle to go to an ATM while surveying their sorroundin. Image
the sleuths identified one Tomaso Gagula.

On seeing the potential danger, the 2 suspects fleed the scene leaving one Tomaso Gagula behind. Tomaso was sprayed with 13 bullets and that was his end.

He died at the age of 22 years. Image
He was buried at Langata Cemetery after his father declined burying him on his land and even attending his funeral.

Luckily he was survived by his son. Image
His mother never stopped loving her son until her demise in 2021 due to supposedly stress. She posted him on her FB page detailing how she missed him everyday.

Like a great grandma, she even took Sean to see his father's grave.

THE TUJU CASE: When Narrative Attempts to Replace the Record

Here is a quintessential example of a strongly worded analysis that is emotionally persuasive but anchored more on assertion than on what was actually placed before Courts of Law. 🧵 Image
Framing this dispute as a “corporate heist disguised as a judgment” is precisely where emotion begins to overrun fact.

One must soberly ask whether it is possible that courts in England & Kenya could all miss the fundamentals that are now being “discovered” on social media
What we are seeing in many of these posts is what James Orengo, SC once described as a mélange, a mixture of many ingredients that appears rich but carries very little nutritional value.

The danger with such a mélange is that when assertions are repeated long enough they begin
