Jimmy Apples, who many believe is an OpenAI insider, tweeted “AGI has been achieved internally”
Then his account vanished.
He deleted his tweets, BUT (via Wayback Machine) look at this strange tweet:
Jan 9: "This model is internally known as gpt5 and it completed training in October 2022.”
“OpenAi withholding the 125 trillion multimodal version [GPT5] which can generate videos, images etc till 2024 due to “ safety “
“What everyone wants [GPT5] won’t be out till mid 2024.”
Of note, @Radlib4 investigated Jimmy Apples and concluded he is a credible insider largely due to 4 accurate past predictions (e.g. GPT4 release date, existence of ‘Gobi’ model). Decent video summary below.
This tweet is also interesting because Google DeepMind/Inflection founder Mustafa Suleyman recently accused OpenAI of lying about GPT5:
“I think Sam [Altman] said recently they’re not training GPT-5. Come on. I don’t know, I think it’s better that we’re all just straight about it. That’s why we disclose the total amount of compute that we’ve got.”
