SitRep - 10/10/23 - Russia started an offensive in the east

An overview of the daily events in Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russia launched a major attack on Avdiivka, but Russia also seems to be becoming more active in several other places.

As usual we start with Russian losses per 10/10/23 reported by the Ukrainian general staff.

+450 men
+6 tanks
+3 APVs
+7 artillery systems
+1 AD system
+17 UAVs Image
Overnight Russia once again hit Ukraine with Shahed drones. A total of 27 out of 36 were shot down. Good, but not good enough.
Ukrainian units shot down a Su-25 fighter jet over the Avdiivka area.
A D-30 howitzer destroyed, fine accuracy.
And another D-30 destroyed by KHORNE group in the Zaporizhzia direction.
Fortification engineering equipment was found and destroyed near Zaitseve. It is clear that Russia is trying to create new defensive lines southeast of Bakhmut.
Stugna-P hit a Russian tank. Model unclear.
A Russian warehouse was struck in Kharkiv region near Vil'shana.

The 92nd mechanized published a spectacular compilation of FPV drones hitting Russian equipment.
Let's continue with the general events. The US is high likely aiming to combine Israeli and Ukrainian aid package into one bill in hopes to get it through Congress
Rheinmetall received a new order for over 150.000 artillery shells
Finland confirmed more aid to Ukraine
During his visit to Romania, Zelenskyi confirmed more support from Romania.
Germany gave details about the recent $1 billion aid package to Ukraine. It consists mainly of new air defense systems and armor.
Tomorrow the US is expected to announce a new aid package to Ukraine worth $200 million.

Avdiivka

➡️Whole day, RU pounds Avdiivka with bombs/mortars/artillery
➡️Near Krasnohorivka, Russians went on the attack. Russians claim to have reached Berdychi suburb. Unlikely and unconfirmed
➡️Near Vodyane, Russians went on the attack. This one seems to have failed completely Image
Mass bombings occured since early this morning.
Followed by a 'not so succesful' approach via Vodyane
Novoprokopivka-Verbove axis

➡️AFU managed to advance west of Novofedorivka, to what extent is yet unclear.
➡️RU sources claim the amount of cluster ammunition shelling has increased.
➡️There are battles reported close E/NE of Kopani, indicating that the AFU is pushing deeper. Image
A bit more east near Dorozhnyanka, there are preliminary reports that the AFU entered the hamlet of Zahirne. This needs further visual confirmation but is reported by both sides.

Israel has continued to strike the Gaza Strip overnight. All events will be covered in this new daily thread.

An IDF spokesperson said that Israel had called up 100.000 reservists, preparing in the south to start ground operations against Hamas.

Hamas has claimed an attack on Israel. Mohammed Deif, leader of the military branch of Hamas, speaks of a new military operation called Operation al-Aqsa storm. Since this morning, 5,000 rockets are said to have been fired into Israel. Militants have also entered Israel from Gaza.
Hamas fighters on the streets in Sderot, Israel. Horrible images coming in, lots of dead and wounded civilians. This is terrorism.
