SitRep - 17/10/23 - ATACMS IN UKRAINE πŸš€

An overview of the daily events in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. With a major attack on Berdyansk airport, it immediately became clear that Ukraine has ATACMS. Nine helicopters were reportedly destroyed πŸ”₯🚭

As usual we start with Russian losses per 17/10/23 reported by the Ukrainian general staff.

+800 men
+14 tanks
+20 APVs
+26 artillery systems
+11 UAVs
+2 cruise missiles Image
At night, Ukraine shot down most drones and missiles launched by Russia
In the morning, footage emerged from an attack on Berdyansk airport where lots of Russian helicopters were stationed.
Russian Air Force affiliated channel Fighterbomber confirmed the attack and losses.
Ukrainian SSO claimed and confirmed the strikes. A total of 9 (!) helicopters were reportedly destroyed. No proof was given, so I did an analysis on the latest satelite images and FIRMS data..
Then, footage emerged showing a large part of the airport and several helicopters engulfed in flames. How the Ukrainians did this.. more on that later in this sitrep.
In Skadovsk, a Russian military headquarter was struck.

Lets continue with the general events. The US allocated more money for the restoration of Ukraine's energy system
More aid from US to Ukraine is likely to be combined with aid to Israel and Taiwan.
Also additional money from the US will be reserved for the modernization of Ukrainian infrastructure.
Lithuania will start repairing Ukrainian tanks
A first step is taken towards the realization of a Ukraine fund
But then... suddenly images appeared from Berdyansk, indicating US made M39 ATACMS were used to strike the airport. A huge shock, this wasn't expected
Not much later Zelenskyi confirmed the use of ATACMS.
And this confirmation was followed up by Zaluhznyi who showed ATACMS launches towards Berdyansk airport.

Several media confirmed -based on US officials- that US had indeed sent ATACMS under the guise of cluster munitions in a recent aid package to surprise Russia. It is also said by AP that only less then a dozen have been supplied so far.

Novoprokopivka-Verbove

➑️AFU has slightly advanced east of Novoprokopivka, closing in on the Surovikin line in this area.
➑️Situation in Verbove is less clear. AFU did attack last 24-48 hours, but the success of this push has yet to be determined Image

Avdiivka

➑️No confirmed changes
➑️Russian channels claims they have successes north of Spartak and Vodyane. All these claims have no visual confirmation nor any other evidence backing up this claim. Image
