Biden: "I also spoke with President Abbas of Palestinian Authority & reiterated the US remains committed to the Palestinian people's right to dignity and self-determination. The action of Hamas terrorists do not take that right away...I'm heartbroken by loss of Palestinian life"
Biden: "Hamas and Putin represent different threats, but they share this in common: They both want to annihilate a neighboring democracy."
Biden explains why wars in the Middle East and in Ukraine matter to Americans
Biden: "American leadership is what holds the world together...to put all that at risk if we walk away from Ukraine, if we turn our backs on Israel, is just not worth it. That's why tmrw I'm going to send to Congress an urgent budget request to fund America's natl security needs"
Biden says he and Netanyahu spoke yesterday about "the critical need for Israel to operate by the laws of war. That means protecting civilians in combat as best they can. The people of Gaza urgently need food, water, and medicine" and talks about the new aid package to Gaza
Biden says "here at home, we have to be honest with ourselves. In recent years, too much hate is given too much oxygen fueling racism, islamophobia, and antisemitism right here in America" and discusses recent violence against Palestinian Americans
Biden ends his speech by talking about his trip to Ukraine: "When I exited that train & met President Zelensky, I didn't feel alone. I was bringing w/me the idea of America ... we can't let petty, partisan, angry politics get in the way of our responsibilities as a great nation"
