In the two decades since 9/11, we spent trillions of dollars and lost countless lives, without doing much to liberalize the Islamic world. On the other hand, we now have massive rallies in support of terrorist gangs in our cities.
It's similar to the way globalist "engagement" with China did nothing to liberalize Communism. If anything, it's become more autocratic and hostile to Enlightenment values. Instead, WE became more like THEM. We imported authoritarian ideas like their social credit system.
Part of the reason for these failures to win the clash of civilizations is that population movement only occurs in one direction. For all the bleating about "colonizers" from the radical Left, it's the Western world that has been colonized, as is painfully evident in Europe.
Culture spreads through believers. After the fall of the Soviet Union, Western thinkers got this idea that culture was spreading through commerce. They thought the Berlin Wall was pulverized by blue jeans and rock & roll.
There is some cultural transmission through commerce and communications, to be sure. Books, films, and music definitely spread ideas. The problem is that authoritarian regimes can contain that type of ideological contamination with censorship and violence.
If anything, authoritarianism has gotten BETTER at inoculating its captive people against invasive liberal ideas in the Information Age. The futurists of the 80s and 90s were so very, very wrong about that. The Internet is all about dams, not floods of information.
A far more durable method of spreading cultural ideas, tried and true across the span of centuries, is to simply move warm bodies across borders. This is especially true when vulnerable Western societies do not require, or even encourage, assimilation.
Our culture has essentially been rigged to self-destruct at the slightest contact with aggressive alien ideas. Academia has taught generations that our society is fundamentally corrupt, systemically racist, sick with evil since its very inception.
Oppression theology, carefully cultivated across decades by the hard Left and the old Soviet Union, posits that advanced capitalist Western societies are the ultimate racist oppressors. Everyone else is a victim, and therefore morally superior.
This is reflected in climate change hysteria, which is really just oppression theology converted into cold cash, lithium batteries, and solar panels. Climate change theology explicitly states the West is uniquely sinful, and everyone else gets a free pass.
No culture wracked by that much manufactured guilt and cultivated self-doubt is going to propagate itself, especially not within authoritarian societies with heavy strains of nationalism, theology, and religious extremism.
This is especially true because there has been no significant movement of Westerners into Islamic nations since 9/11. No warm bodies crossing borders and bearing ideas. The Western presence in places like Iraq and Afghanistan is treated like a disease to be quarantined.
The big population movements were all in the other direction, and they happened with astounding speed, driven by open-borders ideologues and well-financed organizations devoted to increasing Westward migration.
Could you imagine what migration in the other direction would even LOOK like? Millions of Americans or Europeans settling in other countries, demonstrating in their streets, exerting a gravitational pull on their politics? They'd be excoriated as "colonizers" if they tried it.
And they can't really try it, because they have neither the fertility rates nor the cultural confidence. There will be no migratory waves bringing Western liberal values across land and sea borders to the lands of violence, squalor, and tyranny.
Could you imagine any autocratic or theocratic nation simply ceding portions of its cities to American or European immigrants, shrugging and writing them off as "no-go zones" for the locals, allowing mosques to be converted into churches, tolerating huge pro-America protests?
Every sober student of history knows that ideas and culture WERE transmitted in eastern and southern directions that way, in the bad old days of colonialism. Recognizing the positive legacy of that transmission does not require forgiving or ignoring imperial sins.
But today, students are taught to ignore everything positive and focus ONLY on the sins. The result is a Western world obsessed with beating itself into submission, exporting neither faith nor believers, unable even to stand up for reason and freedom on the university campus.
Two decades ago, our media wouldn't allow us to see Palestinians dancing in the streets and passing out candy to celebrate 9/11 because we supposedly couldn't handle it. Our elite lacked confidence in the people it rules, and it's only gotten worse since then.
Today we have marches on campus and through the streets of our cities to support rape gangs and death squads. Their slogans are beamed on the sides of our schools. Decent people are told to hide, lest they offend the terrorist sympathizers and cause their own beatings.
We were deliberately made wide-open for conquest, and invaders have marched in - both physically and with toxic ideology. Our elites utterly failed to liberalize the world, so now they just offer terms of surrender to tyrannical aggression, and they don't negotiate hard. /end

What's the deal with leftist Western Jews and gays supporting Hamas and the Palestinians, who would absolutely murder them without remorse, if it could? It goes back to the Soviet incubation of oppression theology in Western academia.
The Soviets used Marxist theory to teach "resistance" groups to set aside their differences and work together against their common class and ideological enemies, the capitalist oppressors. Worldwide socialism was presented as a brotherhood.
Supposedly all these groups were brothers and sisters under the skin, because they were all oppressed by capitalism and imperialism. Socialism and communism were peddled as great unifying forces that would bring them together against their class enemies in a worldwide struggle.

Remember modern "liberalism" is entirely punitive. Leftists take vicious glee in punishing those they judge "guilty" of privilege, racism, oppression, colonialism, etc. They're not focused on building things or helping anyone. Of COURSE they see kindred spirits in Hamas.
Leftism paints a veneer of intellectual sophistication and morality over the most brutish human impulses: the urges to coerce and destroy. It's no surprise the first thing leftists did for their pals in Hamas was tear down posters of kidnap victims. Quick and easy destruction.
Left-wing censorship, speech controls, and cancel culture are all expressions of the urges to coerce and destroy. They derive primitive joy from coercing obedience and silencing dissent. It's the destruction of knowledge, of language, of dissident thought.

Whatever their long-term goals might be, the short-term objective of terrorists is always gaining legitimacy. The tiniest scrap of legitimacy - attention paid to their grievances, excuses made for their depredations - is enough to sustain a brutal terrorist movement.
This is one reason for the old-fashioned insistence that "we do not negotiate with terrorists." Such negotiations inevitably confer legitimacy. Absolute rejection of terrorism - the punishment is destruction, the method invalidates the "cause" - is the only way to defeat it.
A common technique for grabbing quick infusions of legitimacy is for the terrorists to associate themselves with a larger population. If you oppose the terrorists, then you must hate the people. If you care about the people, you must go easy on the terrorists.

How about a round of applause for the DNC Media and Democrat politicians who uncritically amplified Hamas propaganda, spreading a story that has already caused violent riots and will probably get people killed?

Pro tip, kids: assume the rapists and baby-murderers are LYING.
After years of bleating about "disinformation," you clowns encountered a textbook example of it - furnished by an organization you KNOW is barbaric and evil, that perpetrated unspeakable atrocities just days ago - and you failed utterly. You had no immune system response at all.
This disinformation had immediate real-world consequences. Violent riots erupted across the Middle East. Diplomatic meetings were canceled. Jew-hating groups around the world were energized. Members of Congress repeated your toxic disinformation as fact.

If the standard of "you can't fight an evil regime because you could hurt civilians who don't really support it" standard applied to Israel had been in effect for the Allies in WW2, we'd all be living in the "Man In the High Castle" alternate timeline right now.
These are rules of engagement that inevitably favor the terrorist, the barbarian, the iron-fisted authoritarian warlord. Like gun control laws, "war should be outlawed because it hurts civilians" is a mindset that only restrains the good guys, while the outlaws laugh.
Amid all the moaning about "ethnic cleansing" inflicted by Israel moving Palestinians out of the way so it can have a clear shot at Hamas, has anyone complained about the forced relocation of Israelis from the villages wiped out by the Hamas atrocity?

The heartless savagery of groups like Hamas, their dogged insistence on stockpiling weapons instead of helping their own people lead better lives, is part of their appeal to Western supporters and fellow travelers - and it's not just an appeal to their anti-Semitism.
Palestinian terror groups are adept at manipulating the Western Left's love of oppression narratives. That's why so many academic lefties are chirping "de-colonization!" right now, and why it's important for normies to understand that de-colonization means genocide.
The Soviet Union invested great effort in pushing oppression narratives into Western academia, with a payoff lasting for generations after the fall of the USSR. Oppression narratives justify unlimited lawbreaking and atrocities. They're an H-bomb for destabilizing democracies.
