1. WHAT IS A SHILL?
Shills have been around a long time. Over for over 100 years in fact. They first showed up in the late 19th Century when carnival workers would pose as audience members.
2. The Carnival workers would do this in order to draw in an audience toward a particular attraction. This practiced evolved into the world of crime where pick pockets would hire carnival workers to distract their intended victims as the crime was committed.
3. This concept grew more in the 20th Century, making its way into gambling houses. Shills were used to pretend they won in order to attract more gamblers.
4. Auctioneers used shills to increase value of items by planting false bids. Scammers employed shills to give the illusion of success to potential products.
5. Shills can have certain patterns, which can be detected when you look for them. One is watching the behavour of the shill. If a single shill account continuously posts positively about a person/product at the early stages of knowing them or the development stages, there is...
6. ...a chance the shill account is being paid for. If a number of large heavily followed social media accounts are all taking up for the same product/person, then it is a clear sign the product/person has hired a number of paid shills.
7. SPOTTING QUESTIONABLE ACCOUNTS:
To protect yourself online against shills, you can watch for certain signs and behaviours of the shill accounts:
8. If you do not know the account personally, or if they are a new account, keep your guard up. Use discernment. Usually you can generally trust those you know to share the right information. However, be cautious.
9. Make sure the account in question has a profile pic. Does the name on the account make any sense. Does the account in question use an actual word or mishmashed characters?
10. Check the behaviour of the account in question. See if the account has a bio. A lack of a bio is a warning. See if the account in question actually is engaging with others online or is it only reposting or using same phrases continuously.
11. If the account in question is a high profile account, make sure it is verified. Watch for parody accounts. They can be misleading.
12. Observe the account in question’s followers. If the account has only a few posts and only a few followers, it is most likely a fake account or in some instances a sock account.
13. A sock account is an alternate account which is usually thrown away without any problem. Some accounts in question will have large following but little followers.
14.

SPOTTING SHILL BEHAVIOUR:
There are other ways you can spot shills online to help you deal with them. They will exhibit certain behaviours which can be seen quite prevalently in their online activity: Behaviours which shills exhibit are:
15.

* They are dismissive or explain evidence of conspiratorial theories without valid sources or context.
* They resort to insults immediately.
* They claim that their theories would become part of the main stream narrative.
16.

* They will make it a point to argue.
* They accept the current status quo and current narrative without questions. They will make no attempt to dismiss or explain away like they do with others conspiracy theories.
17.

* They will become upset if someone does not conform to what they are saying.
* They will put words in other’s mouths. This is a tactic used to help manufacture criticism.
* They will use strawman arguments or irrelevant unfounded claims.
18.

* The will clog up threads with nonsensical questions or try to bait others into arguments.
* They are almost always hypocritical.
* They are bullies which try to prove they are not bullying.
19.

* They will preach of tolerance and acceptance but their actions show hate and persecution.
* They will try to use ad hominem attacks to discredit or belittle their targets.
20.

* They will try to discredit by using words such as β€œyour wrong,” β€œthat is a lie,” followed by buzzwords and phrases, such as conspiracy theorist, anti vaxxers, XYZ supporters, etc.
* They will use accounts which are less than a year old.
21.

* They will refuse to concede to minor points. They will exhibit bunker mentality. Their whole intent is to push back without wanting to engage in conversation.
* They tend to believe everything they are defending is 100 percent accurate and there is no room for doubt

1. Satan by all definition is a slanderer, deceiver, and an adversary of God. He is the enemy of righteousness and all those wo do seek to do God’s will.
2. He is a son of God yet a fallen angel who rebelled against God, cast out of Heaven, and took a third of the hosts of Heaven with him. The devil is the prince of this world. He rules it. The earth is his domain.

SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCERS:

Social Media Influencers make money with sponsored posts, brand partnerships, affiliated marketing, merchandising, monetization programs, and direct donations( tips, subscriptions).
2. Other times they will hire paid shills to help promote them to get more followers, attention, or help push their narrative and/or agenda.

1. Grifters will seek attention. They seek the spotlight. They will use manipulation tactics to force others to see them as the only one who matters, and sometimes they will play the victim to get support and empathy. Image
2. Grifters love to exploit peoples deference to authority figures. People do not question those in authority so the grifters will manipulate this to get what they want.
3. Grifters see people as sheep. They see people do not question and will follow what others do. Online, grifters will use "Astroturfing," which means the grifter will use multiple accts to fake support, peer groups, or influence others to have the focus on the grifter.
