Mike Johnson's misappropriation of the experiences of a young black man he falsely claimed to be his "adopted son" are repugnant and his numerous lies are disqualifying to hold an office 2nd in line to the Presidency. Let’s review: 1/10
Lie: "We took Michael in as newlyweds almost 20 years ago, he was 14."
Truth: Johnson met Michael in 2016 as a single man. A full three years before he married.
Lie: "Were it not for our intervention in his life, he would certainly have joined a gang, gotten on drugs, wound..2/10
up in prison or ended up dead on the streets somewhere."
Truth: Michael James is a convicted felon with numerous arrest records over the last several decades ranging from drug charges to theft and possession of a concealed weapon. He has been in and out of prison.3/10 Image
Lie: "Michael now is doing great"
Truth: See above and below.
Lie: "They have a great family life."
Truth: Michael no longer lives with his wife and 4 children. In 2017 a protective order was filed (presumably by his wife) and a court order was issued for anger management.4/10 Image
Lie: "We adopted Michael through the Young Life Ministry."
Truth: Young Life Ministry is not an adoption agency but described here as "a setting rife with sexual harassment and assault of students, often at the hands of peers or adults they trusted." 5/10

Lie: "Many of my colleagues in this committee may not be aware, in addition to our four children at home, my wife and I have a much older son who happens to be African American," he said. "We took custody of Michael and made him part of our family 22 years ago when we...7/10
were just newlyweds and Michael just 14 and out on the streets and on a dangerous path...I personally know the challenges he has faced early in his life. I've walked with him through discrimination that he's had to endure over the years and the hurdles he faced."...8/10
“I met him through the Young Life Ministry. It’s a very long story, I won’t go into it today.”
Truth: Johnson did not "take custody" of Michael as he was never adopted. Only a court order, like a guardianship or adoption, can take legal custody...9/10

from a parent and give it to another person. Johnson's office has now admitted that he never actually adopted Michael because there was "too much paperwork involved."
Truth: In fact, Michael's mother is still alive and he has lived with here off and on at different times. 10/10

Mike Johnson was a leading activist with an anti-gay conversion therapy group called Exodus and partnered with the group to put on anti-gay events aimed at teens. Yet he refuses to discuss this part of his life despite numerous media requests. 1/4
kten.com/story/49927872…
Johnson actively promoted the criminalization of gay sex, and even blamed sexual orientation for the downfall of the Roman Empire. In his promotion of the event, Johnson said “Homosexual behavior is something you do, it’s not something that you are.” 2/4
newrepublic.com/post/176575/mi…
Videos put out by Exodus and Johnson in his work with ADF featured two Exodus staffers speaking about how teens didn’t need to “accept” or “embrace” their homosexuality. The videos featured testimonials of a “former-homosexual” and “former lesbian.” 3/4

Although no one has asked, I’d like to explain why I’m so personally concerned about background and repeated mistruth’s coming from our Speaker, Mike Johnson. I was Congressman J. Dennis (Denny) Hastert’s Chief of Staff from 1986-1991 -- before he became Speaker. Like Mike...1/10
Johnson, Hastert had religious roots as a graduate of Wheaton College and Wheaton honored him after he became Speaker by naming a program and building The J. Dennis Hastert Center for Economics, Government, and Public Policy. 2/10
Also like Mike Johnson, Denny had been in leadership as Deputy Whip when he was nominated as a “safe choice,” ironically because other Speaker nominees had some uncomfortable “skeletons in their closets.” Further like Mike Johnson, Hastert was very affable and well-liked...3/10

Mike Johnson's efforts in recent days to scrub his resume are becoming increasingly problematic for the new Speaker. This includes his role as Dean of the Judge Paul Pressler School of Law. Pressler, the school’s namesake, was sued over sexual abuse..(1/4)

allegations made by multiple men who say he sexually assaulted them, some when they were children. According to the Houston Chronicle, Pressler agreed to pay one victim $450,000 for physical assault and the matter is still pending in court. (2/4) Image
Past Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) President Paige Patterson was also named in the suit, for helping Pressler cover up the abuse. Mike Johnson served with Patterson as an SBC Board member from 2004-2012. The law school never opened its doors amid infighting by... (3/4) Image

Aileen Cannon, a 38 year-old lawyer with no judicial experience and limited resume, was handed a LIFETIME appointment as a federal judge just as Trump left office. Cannon's primary credentials for the job were apparently her young age and membership in the Federalist Society. 1/5
Her professional experience was so limited that she was forced to admit on her Sen Judiciary Comm questionnaire that she had never made any speeches, produced any reports, participated in any panel discussions, spoke at any conferences or written for any bar association. 2/5
In her twelve years as a lawyer, she published no writings of her own and just 3 writings done with colleagues at Gibson Dunn -- limited to promotional articles on cases handled by the firm for their own website. 3/5
