OpenAI is reportedly poaching Google's top AI researchers with $10m/year packages.

Plus, huge AI developments from Hollywood, GPTs/GPT-4, Runway, a new ChatGPT report, and 10 new AI tools.

Here's the rundown of everything going on in AI right now:
Reportedly, OpenAI's recruiters are luring talent at Google working Gemini.

OpenAI is enticing researchers to join them with massive packages at $10m/year.

While no doubt there's an AI race for LLMs, there is also a war being fought for the top AI worker talent. Image
The SAG-AFTRA actors (Hollywood) strike has finally ended.

The 118-day strike was the longest in Hollywood history, halting many productions.

The final deal concedes some restrictions and payments around AI model use.
Over the weekend, GPTs have gained extreme traction.

My team and I built a directory to track all of the best GPTs in one spot.

Since then, we've become the hub for GPTs, receiving 500+ submissions:

Sam Altman tweeted that the upgraded GPT-4 Turbo model is now live, and should be ‘a lot better’ than the previous models.

The upgrade comes after an interesting week of outages and degraded performance after reported DDoS attacks from hacker groups.
AI video platform Runway introduced an impressive update called ‘motion brush’.

The new tool is coming to its Gen-2 product that allows for more intuitive movement control within outputs.
A new report by Financial Times shows AI tools like ChatGPT are transforming knowledge work.

Interestingly, low-performing employees are seeing the biggest benefit.

So, I asked my community for their top automations that actually improved their lives.

Here's the top 15 life hacks from the thread:

Perplexity Comet is not like other agents

I’ve been testing it all week, and it’s starting to actually *stick*

Having in-page data context and plugging it directly into tabs makes it so much easier to add to my workflow

An honest review with a few use cases (and caveats):
First, the caveats:

- It's still early, and struggles with longer workflows
- Most data is retained by Perplexity (privacy concern)
- Only available to Max users ($200/mo) or free with an invitation code (we just dropped 500 codes in The Rundown University)
USE CASE 1: Email and Calendar management

With the Google Cal and Gmail integrations, it can summarize emails, schedule meetings, and manager calendar events directly from the browser

It's weird that Google hasn't done this yet
