No doubt our #Sikhs sacrificed their lives for Sarbat Da Bhala, but what have we really got in return? Only Deceit & false promises.

“Ek tareekh ko hamari duniya hi ujad gayi thee (Our world was uprooted on the 1 Nov). We did not expect this type of horror. Everything was ruined. I lost 10 people in these riots, including father, brothers and uncles,” Pappy, now 54, told reporter while wiping her tears.

From 31 October to 3 November 1984, more than 3,000 Sikh men, women and children were slaughtered by violent mobs, following the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Sikh men had their necks ringed with tyres which were set on fire;⬇️
others were shot or hacked to death; women were raped and assaulted.
Slogans like “HINDU MUSLIM BHAI-BHAI, SIKH KAUM KAHAAN SE AAYI” were being chanted all over Delhi.
Eyewitnesses told official commissions of inquiry that police personnel did nothing to prevent the killings.⬇️
A government-appointed judicial commission described the killings as “organised carnage”.
The #SikhGenocide of 1984 was a national shame, and it was followed by another: over three decades of impunity for the perpetrators of these crimes.
