12 things I am loving about #Brighton right now. A thread of some of the beautiful people and projects I have been working with, meeting and supporting in recent weeks 💚🗳️🐬👏🌱📋✅🧵… Sian Berry and Caroline Lucas doorknocking in the sun next to a green door and iron railings.
1/ Going out on the doors with inspirational youth campaign @GNDRising which is laser focused on getting a properly invested Green New Deal from the next Government and not stinting with their pressure on Labour. Thank you for backing me!

Sian Berry with a group of around 20 young people posing for a photo around a banner on a stage. Banner reads ‘Youth Rising for a Green New Deal’ and a slide projected on to a screen above them reads ‘Doorknock for a Green New Deal’.
Hands holding a flyer for Green New Deal Rising, the first paragraphs of the flyer read ‘We knocked on your door: why?’ and ‘Green New Deal Rising is a movement of young people fighting to stop climate change and create millions of green jobs’ Bottom of leaflet says ‘Under 35? Get involved www.gndrising.org

@GNDRising 2/ Those behind the doors, Greens listening with me and our amazing action day hosts! 💚🙏💚 to teams working hard from Moulescoomb, Patcham, Hollingbury, Coldean, Westdene, Round Hill, Hanover, Hollingdean, Fiveways, Preston Park, Seven Dials, North Laine and Regency by the sea!

Action day host Fiona cooking amazing chilli!

@GNDRising 3/ Rabbi Gabriel from @BHPS2011 who showed me around their beautiful building, where we discussed the concerns of his congregation about rising antisemitism, as well as the huge contribution Brighton and Hove’s Jewish community makes to the life of our city. 💚🕍💚 Sian Berry in a selfie photograph in Brighton and Hove Progressive Synagogue with Rabbi Gabriel.
@GNDRising @BHPS2011 4/ Maggie Gordon-Walker (@mgordonwalker) from @MothersUncoverd who met me for breakfast to talk about issues faced by mothers and families in Brighton and work to bring their voices into decisions here and more widely. @CarolineLucas has been a big supporter and I aim to be too!
@GNDRising @BHPS2011 @mgordonwalker @MothersUncoverd @CarolineLucas 5/ A special shout out to South East Greens who have also been working hard and providing some of the loveliest volunteers at action days! If you’re not in the region but you can support our Brighton campaign with a donation, please chip in! @SEGreenPartydonate.greenparty.org.uk/brighton/
@GNDRising @BHPS2011 @mgordonwalker @MothersUncoverd @CarolineLucas @SEGreenParty 6/ It was fantastic to visit and support these small, women-run Brighton businesses in Seven Dials with @CarolineLucas. Co-op becoming bigger is not the best way to make this brilliant local centre vibrant and resilient.
@GNDRising @BHPS2011 @mgordonwalker @MothersUncoverd @CarolineLucas @SEGreenParty 7/ And what good news that the Prince Albert pub has been saved from the huge damage of a development proposal. Loved visiting to celebrate with George and Will, and looking forward to holding not one but two Green socials for members there soon!
@GNDRising @BHPS2011 @mgordonwalker @MothersUncoverd @CarolineLucas @SEGreenParty 8/ It was an honour to speak on Caroline’s behalf at Reclaim the Night Brighton this year. It was massive and inclusive. 👏to speakers from @NightReclaim and @ProstitutesColl.

I have marched for safe streets for all women since I was a student. It needs saying more than ever.

@GNDRising @BHPS2011 @mgordonwalker @MothersUncoverd @CarolineLucas @SEGreenParty @NightReclaim @ProstitutesColl 9/ And it was an equal honour to be invited to the regular Sudanese community gathering to hear from everyone about their work, issues with services, housing and cultural support. Thank you for welcoming me!
@GNDRising @BHPS2011 @mgordonwalker @MothersUncoverd @CarolineLucas @SEGreenParty @NightReclaim @ProstitutesColl 10/ I especially loved sitting down to meet members of Brighton and Hove @WILPF to hear about their long and illustrious history of campaigning for peace and freedom (since 1915!) They are currently holding a peace vigil every Friday at the war memorial from 1-2pm. Members of Brighton WILPF hosting a peace vigil at the war memorial in Brighton. Placards read ‘Women in Black oppose war and all violence’ and ‘Women in Black against war and weapons’
@GNDRising @BHPS2011 @mgordonwalker @MothersUncoverd @CarolineLucas @SEGreenParty @NightReclaim @ProstitutesColl @WILPF 11/ I 💚 the Wood Store team for making me a glorious new bed from reclaimed scaffolding boards. The project’s been active in the area since 1998, making sure good wood doesn’t go to waste. Visit them in Edward St (yes that’s Kemptown!) @woodrecycling woodrecycling.org.uk

@GNDRising @BHPS2011 @mgordonwalker @MothersUncoverd @CarolineLucas @SEGreenParty @NightReclaim @ProstitutesColl @WILPF @woodrecycling And 12/ 🙏💚The Clock Tower Sanctuary for supporting young people facing homelessness in Brighton for 25 years. The centre is so impressive, and all services are led by young people’s needs. Please donate to their Xmas appeal here thects.org.uk/christmas/
