Coming back from Ballarat I made a detour to the Regional Football Facility and Pavilion. Leakes Rd is still dirt but greatly improved. Western United vs Brisbane Roar next month is TBC. Unless an army of workers are on the tools 24-7 it's not happening. A 🧵of my latest visit.

View from behind the northern goal at Regional Football Facility and Pavilion. There's little space for spectators here. I'm guessing they're going to copy Macedonia Park and have a small temporary stand a few rows deep for active home fans. This seating is still packed up.

Looking towards the eastern side at Regional Football Facility and Pavilion. If it's just left as grass it'll be similar to the outer side of Morshead Park. I did notice lots of grass seeds about so perhaps that is the intention of Tarneit 5000 to be surrounded by gentle slopes.

180 degrees view of the Regional Football Facility and Pavilion in Tarneit. On a hot day you would be left to cook as there's no shade. Lights look pretty basic but surely they would be the minimum standard for night games otherwise bump in lights would be needed to boost lux.

A train from Geelong passing the Regional Football Facility and Pavilion site. Tarneit railway station is 6km away for those who will come by public transport for future A-League Men and Women fixtures. The railway runs closer to the folkloric 15,000 stadium behind the hill.

A closer look at the stand at Regional Football Facility and Pavilion. I'm not convinced by the small roof but I do like the TV camera gantry. Given it seats 800-odd spectators I'd imagine that it would be all premium Western United ticket holders for games. Bonus if it's GA.

Still a lot of work for the Tarneit 5000 stadium to be match ready. Behind the stand at Regional Football Facility and Pavilion is a completed synthetic pitch. Heavy machinery was operating in the distance. Given recent rain I was expecting the site to be a mud bath.

A view of the secondary grass pitch at Regional Football Facility and Pavilion. When I first saw the plans for this Wyndham City facility I was expecting a double sided stand but from a distance that doesn't appear to be the case. This set up reminds me of Falcons Park, Morwell.

A new roadway has been dug out between Leakes Rd and the venue. This stretches almost to the railway bridge. I'm envisioning it will be part of a dual carriageway, car parking, taxi/rideshare and shuttle bus drop off points.

Seems like X has crapped itself as all my posts didn't go through. There's a few more I'll try and send again later.
View from Leakes Rd. The whole Regional Football Facility and Pavilion reminds me of Epping Soccer Stadium. That was once in the middle of nowhere and is now surrounded by houses. Tarneit 5000 will be the same eventully. I'd be amazed if it opens with dirt road access.

As can be seen, the Regional Football Facility and Pavilion is still very much an active construction site. I read somewhere that this nomenclature is temporary. Wyndham City Stadium is the name of the mythical big ground. Maybe this will be just Western United Training Ground?

View of the earthworks on Leakes Rd and a look at the (Wyndham) Regional Football Facility and Pavilion floodlights. Coming from Mount Cottrel I could see the towers in the distance as the surrounding area is flat even though they aren't very prominent.

Just pointed out to me by @brentonrkaring that @austadiums has the first Western United match at Tarneit as Sunday 7 January against Melbourne City. Will be interesting to see if this date ends up as the opening A-League Men match.
