1/7 A thread on some changes in topics in my X posts. For 10 years, my X account was devoted to only patents, innovation, tech & science. I am continuing these posts, as I did today with a post on the anniversary of #patent issuing on Tupperware in 1954. But more is required now.
2/7 The murder, rape & torture of 1200+ people by Hamas on Oct 7 can't go unacknowledged, esp support & rallies for these barbaric horrors. Antisemitic acts & assaults in U.S. are increasing, esp by students w support or silence by profs & admins, such as at my own @GeorgeMasonU.
3/7 What Hamas did on Oct 7 is not just antisemitic. It is brutal barbarism. Murder of children & babies, savage rape of girls, torture of women should be condemned. It's basic humanity. But it's celebrated or excused by many people, as I’ve posted on. #NeverForget #NeverAgain
4/7 This made real the aphorism that only thing required for evil to prevail is for good people to remain silent. A meme recently captured this point: “If you ever wondered what you would have done in 1938, you’re doing it now.” Now is the time to speak up against evil ideology.
5/7 I’ve been inspired by recent speech by @bariweiss that Israel & Jews represent values of individualism, equal rights, freedom. Nihilistic ideologies attack these values. Good people cannot be silent. We must speak out. Please read/watch her speech: open.substack.com/pub/bariweiss/…
6/7 We must call out those who hide evil ideas & genocidal goals behind claims of “equity” or “justice.” We cannot be silent when nihilists & antisemites create lies & conspiracies. We must also call out leaders who enable these evil ideologies through silence or even approval.
7/7 We can't be silent anymore in the face of evil. So I now post on these topics. I will still post on patents & innovation, but we saw nihilistic barbarism on Oct 7 & in support of genocidal ideologies in U.S. As @bariweiss said, we are last line of defense & we must speak out.
