SitRep - 05/12/23 - A Russian Su-24M shot down

An overview of the daily events in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Over the Black Sea, a Russian Su-24M was shot down while further financial and military US support for Ukraine is reaching a boiling point.

As usual we start with Russian losses
Yet again, Russia attacked with Shahed drones. A total of 10 were shot down, a bit more than half. Unfortunately, also S-300 missiles were launched that caused damage.
Biggest news of the day, Ukraine shot down a Russian Su-24M bomber over the Black Sea which had intensions to launch missiles towards Odesa.
Russian Air Force affiliated channel Fighterbomber pretty much confirmed it.
In Taganrog in Russia a loud explosion rang out. The Russian Ministry of Defense said it had shot down a drone.
Also in occupied Crimea, explosions near Sevastopol
A Russian 2S7 Pion and 9K33 Osa air defense system destroyed, presumably in the occupied part of the Kherson region
Another Russian EW-complex at least damaged.
A Russian ammunition warehouse and a BM-21 Grad MLRS up in smoke, occupied Donetsk.
A Russian T-72B3 destroyed by an FPV drone. Battery Low, Land now! Well executed i'd say.
Another T-72B3 destroyed. This time by ACHILLES unit, part of the 92nd mechanized. Land now!
On the left bank, a Russian URAL truck was hit and caught fire.
Let's continue with the general events. Finland has confirmed it will increase its artillery ammunition production for Ukraine. Within weeks a new plan will be presented and put into motion.
Umerov met with the Belgian Defense Minister. She once again reconfirmed their intentions to supply Ukraine with F-16's in 2025.
Consultations for security guarantees by the EU for Ukraine have started in Kyiv.
Republicans in the US Senate, for now, will keep blocking the aid request from the Biden administration for more aid to Ukraine. They are unhappy how their demands are being met.

Avdiivka

➡️No map changes confirmed. It is simply hard to know the exact situation.
➡️A tense situation near Stepove and the Avdiivka Coke Plant. Continuous assault take place on Ukrainian positions while also aerial attacks by the Russians have increased, General Staff reports. Image
Footage from near Stepove shows how Russian assault units are getting pounded by both conventional artillery shells and cluster munitions. Russians claim Ukrainian use cluster munitions in full force, inflicting heavy losses.
Bakhmut

➡️Russian counter attacks around Klishchiivka and Andriivka have reportedly somewhat slowed down due to heavy losses
➡️Unconfirmed UA advances in the dacha area.
➡️Near Bohdanivka, Russians are attacking, trying to revert all UA gains made in recent months in that area. Image
