1. Brussels is the capital of Belgium and is renowned for its architecture, as well as for hosting several European Union institutions, including the Parliament. The city has a rich history, dating back to the Middle Ages, when it was originally a fortress before evolving into a cultural center. From the late 1600s onward, Brussels became a significant trade hub, famed for its tapestries. The Grand Place, lined with ornate guild houses, stands as a remnant of this powerful period.Image
2. Antwerp is technically the largest city in Belgium. Its rich history and wealth are due to its strategic location at the mouth of the Scheldt River. Though not as well preserved as some other Flemish cities, its prosperity is still visible in its architecture, particularly in the Cathedral of Our Lady and the Town Hall.
