A new era of AI phones is coming.

Samsung just integrated Google Gemini into Galaxy S24!

Plus, huge developments in AI from DeepMind, Sam Altman, Microsoft, the IMF, Meta, Adobe, Sakana, and 8 new AI tools.

Here's EVERYTHING you need to know:
Samsung just revealed its latest flagship Galaxy S24 smartphone lineup with new AI capabilities, powered by Google Gemini.

My favorite is 'Circle to Search,' which allows users to draw a circle around any object in an image or video to get AI-powered information from Google.
Another neat feature is ' Live Translate'.

It enables real-time voice/text translation during calls in the native phone app, with the AI model running locally.

I'll be breaking down the rest of the features in tomorrow's newsletter: therundown.ai/subscribe
Google DeepMind researchers also just made a major breakthrough, developing AlphaGeometry, an AI system that can solve complex geometry problems from mathematical olympiads.

The success offers a promising path to more human-like reasoning in AI.
Sam Altman finally spoke out about Ilya Sutskever.

The CEO said he's still unsure about if Ilya is still working at OpenAI, but he loves Ilya even after the traumatic event they both went through.

Will we ever find out what Ilya saw?
Microsoft announced Copilot Pro, a premium subscription of their chatbot that enhances AI across Microsoft 365 apps.

The $20/mo subscription includes Microsoft's very own Copilot GPT Builder.

Interesting to see the monetization strategy here by Microsoft.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) just reported that AI may impact nearly 40% of jobs.

Interesting insighrts:

- In advanced economies, around half the jobs could benefit from AI integration.
-In contrast, only 26% of jobs in low-income countries will likely be affected. Image
Meta researchers just developed a new text-to-audio AI method called MAGNET.

The AI is capable of quickly generating music, sound effects, and noises from text prompts.

Sound quality is equal to other SOTA models, but 7x (!) faster.
Adobe just introduced new AI-powered features to Premiere Pro.

-Enhanced speech removal
-Custom audio transitions
-Automatic audio category tagging

Impressive to see Adobe constantly shipping. Audio and video editing seems like a sector ripe for AI disruption. Image
Sakana AI raised $30M in SEED funding for its work on nature-inspired foundation models.

It is pretty rare to see a Silicon Valley VC backing a seed-stage startup in Japan.

I'll be watching this startup closely.
8 new AI tools & 4 new jobs.

All the direct links will be included in my newsletter tomorrow.

Subscribe, and you'll never miss a thing in AI ever again: therundown.ai/subscribe

I've been sleeping on Apple Shortcut Automations.

So, I asked my community for their top automations that actually improved their lives.

Here's the top 15 life hacks from the thread:
1/

Record voice memos, email them to yourself, then use an AI agent platform (Gumloop, n8n, or Lindy) to turn them into long-form articles

2/

Show recently added contacts in reverse chronological order to not forget the new people you've just met

Perplexity Comet is not like other agents

I’ve been testing it all week, and it’s starting to actually *stick*

Having in-page data context and plugging it directly into tabs makes it so much easier to add to my workflow

An honest review with a few use cases (and caveats):
First, the caveats:

- It's still early, and struggles with longer workflows
- Most data is retained by Perplexity (privacy concern)
- Only available to Max users ($200/mo) or free with an invitation code (we just dropped 500 codes in The Rundown University)
USE CASE 1: Email and Calendar management

With the Google Cal and Gmail integrations, it can summarize emails, schedule meetings, and manager calendar events directly from the browser

It's weird that Google hasn't done this yet
