So excited to share our new preprint on the chromosome-scale annotated genome assembly of Triticum timopheevii, an allotetraploid wheat wild relative species. This is the first time when the G subgenome of Triticeae has been sequenced. Check it out! 1/

The assembly was done using @PacBio HiFi reads and HiC capture using the @PhaseGenomics Proximo kit. Thank you @ivanliachko @kboortz18 for your support on this. All sequencing was done by the amazing team at @Novogene_Europe. Contig N50 = 42.4 Mb and scaffold N50 = 671.1 Mb 2/
The structural and functional annotation was done by the amazing team @EarlhamInst using the REAT pipeline. Thank you to David @swarbre and the lovely Sreya @sreyag_ 🙏 3/
When I started my apprenticeship in Bioinformatics during the first lockdown I never imagined I will be assembling genome sequence let alone at chromosome-scale for one that is over 9 Gb with 14 chromosomes! I don't know how I got here but this has been a huge learning curve. 4/
