While many South Asian media outlets have covered the landmark law, many others have suggested the law "singles out Indian Americans" or otherwise elevated a persecution / victimization narrative.
Oppressed and marginalized Indian Americans deserve to be served in our media.
Indian Americans are not and never have been only dominant caste, well-to-do Hindus.
But most of our community media were founded by the 1965 generation, who embraced the model minority myth. Our newspapers largely served educated, documented, and upwardly mobile immigrants.
