This is the first time I’ve seen a local news affiliate take a defensive posture in favor of a J6 defendant who’s being abused by the DOJ. And from Chicago of all places!
ABC7 is reporting the mostly ignored fact that the government is punishing J6ers who don’t plead guilty by adding additional felony charges if they go to trial. This article (link in comments) refers to them as “revenge felonies”.
In my case, while discussing a plea deal, DOJ told my lawyer, “So far we have not yet charged him with felony obstruction of an official proceeding. That’s a felony that carries a potential 20 year sentence. We could, but so far we’ve chosen not to.”
(Congress had cleared 20 minutes before I arrived on Capitol grounds, and I never entered the building)
It’s astounding to see a media outlet doing its job: challenging the government when it’s abusing its power.
