Now @MoCoCouncilMD holds briefing on a Jan 2020 incident in which a 5 year old boy was taken back to his school by Montgomery County Police. The incident, caught on video shows police yelling at the child, handcuffing him, and urging his mother to beat her child.
President of @MoCoCouncilMD Tom Hucker noted that the case is now in litigation, but said the briefing was needed, but "too much time has already gone by" since the incident more than one year ago.
Montgomery County Police @mcpdChief opens with a statement. Says as Chief, a father, and a 35 year vet of the force "was deeply troubled by the actions of my police officers" in the case.

From acting as the #boardofhealth later today the @MoCoCouncilMD will get a briefing on the treatment of a 5 year old boy who was brought back to his school after walking away. Video generated outrage and litigation. Briefing from @mcpdChief at 2:30
Briefing now from Montgomery County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles who says test positivity has increased and fewer people getting tested. Worries about "hidden trove" of people who may be positive but haven't been tested.

More locally, @Marc_Elrich says "none of the elected officials" got a heads up on the decision to move to phase 3 according to Elrich. "I get the desire to reopen businesses" but worries about safety.
He's referring by the way by the Maryland @GovLarryHogan decision to move to phase 3.

The Maryland State Board of Education is holding a meeting on recommendations for the school year which began yesterday for many school districts. Discussion of how school day ought to be organized in "synchronous" vs "asynchronous" learning is being discussed
"Synchronous" - online in real time with instruction before the whole class
"Asyncrhonous" - online instruction that can be played at anytime, not in realtime or "live"
