I was lucky enough to spend the day at this at this castle today, and then and the museum afterwards.
More info below. 👇🏻
This is Fonthill Castle, built by Henry Chapman Mercer, between 1908-1912.
He was not an architect, but was a tile maker, archeologist, and collector.
Fonthill Castle, where Henry Chapman Mercer lived and died.
One of Mercer's favorite things to colect were German stove plates, which was the inspiration for many of his tiles works, and sparked his desire to catalog history. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fonthill_…
Henry Mercer's home was filled with priceless antiques and artifacts from all over the world.
His inheritance afforded him the luxury to "build something", so Henry built himself a castle (which served as home until his death in 1930), a tile making factory, and a museum.
1/There was an incident at @PlanetFitness in September 2023 where a man exposed himself to a 15 year old girl in the women's locker room. Despite multiple previous complaints from other members, staff allowed this man to continue. 1/4🧵
2/When the aunt of this girl complained, #PlanetFitness did no further investigation, but the young girl called the police. As it turns out, this man registered his membership under a false name, and there was a warrant out for his arrest.
The girl is now suing Planet Fitness.
3/If #PlanetFitness staff is allowed to question a member should they suspect they are acting in bad faith, why aren't they exercising this part of their policy? Has any staff requested "external evidence" from a member? Why isn't the obviously dishonest member asked to leave?
