⚠️STAGGERING—24.4% of Americans ages 18 and over who have received a positive #COVID19 test or diagnosis have experienced symptoms of #LongCovid that persisted for 3 months or longer. Long COVID generally worse/more frequent with more severe COVID survivors. Thus….

2) And did the #LongCovid affect their quality of living in carrying out daily activities? Hell yes… 31% of those reporting LC had such reductions in quality of living…. by state: Image
3) Very striking correlation of 0.81 here…. Sometimes correlation isn’t causation - but remember - EVERY CAUSATION IS A CORRELATION. And 0.81 is damn high.
4) if you have 3 or more infection, then #LongCovid % goes up even higher to 38%.

Shit is getting real—Johns Hopkins Hospital medical system has now instituted mandatory mask wearing for all visitors, patients, faculty & staff statewide at @JohnsHopkins clinics. Bandanas, gaiters and masks with exhalation valves are not permitted. #CovidIsNotOver #MaskUp

Something very weird is happening in Italy. Italian scientists are baffled at hospital ER surge—even calling it “strange” @WRicciardi. Trying to track down how bad it is. “Influenza-like illness” is surging. Italy’s MOH extends obligation to wear masks in hospitals. Watching 👀
2) hospitals are back on “wartime” footing again in Lombardy Italy, reminiscent of Feb 2020. Hospital bed shortages again.
3) It seems to be flu and COVID — hospitals are now postponing and blocking non urgent hospital visits because hospitals are overwhelmed by influx of COVID and flu patients. corriere.it/salute/23_dice…

I have many stories & feelings about Harvard after 15 years. Once upon a time when Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes came to receive an award, I confronted & accused her of scientific fraud. I was reprimanded privately after. The rest is history. H logo visible in my 2015 photo below Image

NEW—WHO confirms that the new XBB15 booster shots for #COVID19 do indeed help neutralize current variants, regardless of the brand maker of the vaccine, and does not recommend new formulation yet at this time. Hope everyone get #boosted for holidays.

Hot damn— this fireball explosion 💥 happened tonight just a half a mile away in Arlington, Virginia. Police were serving a warrant to search a house - suspect fired a flare gun that triggered the explosion. Hope nobody hurt.
More details of the explosion video. Police says it was a flare gun but clearly it was used to ignite something, maybe the gas.

3) Suspect— A man named James Yoo, listed in public records as the resident of the address to which police were initially dispatched, has been repeatedly posting paranoid screeds on his Linkedin account. One post from three days ago rants against his neighbors in the adjoining duplex unit.
Wilson — the neighbor who took the video of the explosion from his roof — described Yoo as a recluse and said he had aluminum foil covering the windows.
After the home was listed for sale a couple of years ago, Yoo chased would-be buyers off with a knife, according to Wilson.

⚠️CDC’s new wastewater dashboard shows #COVID19 is surging again in many regions of US. The new EG5 variant also newly predominant, but HV1 variant also surging. This winter will be troubling. I think US govt needs to prepare fast. #CovidIsNotOver

3) many demographic groups such as rural Whites have been deluded and misinformed that COVID isn’t serious / boosters not needed. I hope we don’t have to learn the lessons of the previous Delta variant wave again via the hard way this coming winter.
