I would like to show you the entire military support provided by Germany, of which I have already seen footage (Ringtausch excluded). I'll make a long thread today and post another one again tomorrow to finnish the rest 🙂. Let's go!

1) IRIS-T SLM (3 delivered / 9 pledged)

IRIS-T SLM is one of the best air defence systems in use in Ukraine. At least two of the three IRIS-T SLM systems supplied by Germany are located in Kyiv, where they provide invaluable protection with an almost 100% success rate.

Germany will supply Ukraine with a further nine systems by the end of 2025.Image

2) MIM-104 Patriot (2 delivered)

Germany has supplied Ukraine with two of the three MIM-104 Patriot air defence systems, which are considered to be the best air defence systems in Ukraine.

The first Patriot system supplied by Germany was responsible for the downing of two fighter jets and three helicopters in Bryansk, Russia, in May 2023.

According to media reports and official statements, the second system is located somewhere in the south of Ukraine.Image
3) Gepard SPAAGs (52 delivered / 15 pledged)

The Gepard SPAAG supplied by Germany is probably considered by most to be the most effective weapon system against drones deployed by Russia — at least until we got precise feedback about the also German-delivered Skynex air defence systems.

Meanwhile, Germany has exhausted all possibilities regarding deliveries to Ukraine. The SPAAGs have already been bought back from Qatar and completely delivered to Ukraine.

The on the German side last 15 Gepard SPAAGs (Cheetah SPAAGs to be precise) have been bought back from Jordan and will be delivered to Ukraine this year.Image

4) FIM-92 Stinger (500 delivered)

The FIM-92 Stinger is a man-portable air-defence system (MANPADS) manufactured in the USA. Germany pledged to supply Ukraine with 500 of these MANPADS on 26 February 2022. The delivery followed just days after.

The video shown here documents the downing of a Russian plane over Avdiivka last year by the 110th Mechanised Brigade.
5) RQ-35 Heidrun (125 delivered / 124 pledged)

The RQ-35 Heidrun are reconnaissance drones manufactured in Denmark. Even though a few were crowdfunded and Denmark itself delivered 25 to Ukraine (according to Oryx), the majority came from Germany.

Germany has already delivered a total of 125. A further 124 are to follow in the future. They were only pledged a few weeks ago.Image
6) Sonobot 5 (20 delivered / 50 pledged)

The Sonobot 5 is a German-made USV which, according to publicly available information, has so far only been in service with The State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

They are using it to search for unexploded munitions in waters all over Ukraine. There must have been some pretty good feedback, as Germany recently introduced some to its own army.Image
Image
Image
Image
7) Vector (162 delivered / 243 pledged)

The Vector drone is the centrepiece of German drone deliveries to Ukraine. These are high-quality surveillance drones, of which Germany has already delivered 162 to Ukraine and will deliver a further 243 in the future.

The Ukrainians are delighted. The manufacturer Quantum-Systems is one of the three German companies I know of that have opened centres for the maintenance, training, and production of their equipment in Ukraine / or are planning to do so.Image
Image
Image
Image
8) MARS II (5 delivered)

The MARS II supplied by Germany is the big brother of HIMARS. To put it very simply, MARS II is HIMARS, only with twice the firepower and on tracks instead of wheels.

Even though we see very few pictures and videos, we do occasionally see the DM1399 mines which are being launched with the MARS II (via their own missile).Image
Image
Image
9) Panzerhaubitze 2000 (14 delivered — 8 made available as spare parts donors)

The Panzerhaubitze 2000 is the crown jewellery of the Ukrainian artillery. Germany has supplied Ukraine with a total of 14 of these SPGs, which, together with the PzH 2000s provided by other countries, are in service with the 26th Artillery Brigade and the 43rd Artillery Brigade, for example.

As far as I know, the PzH 2000s are used almost exclusively for counter battery fire in Ukraine.Image
Image
10) Leopard 1A5 (30 delivered / 130+ pledged)

Together with Denmark and the Netherlands, Germany is supplying Leopard 1A5 MBTs to Ukraine, while Germany is responsible for the majority of the deliveries.

30 of these MBTs have already been delivered, while around 130 more will be delivered in the future. The exact number is somewhat vague, even for me, but is most likely something between 105 and 135 — as of now.Image
Image
Image
Image
11) Leopard 2A6 — (depending on calculation, 18 to 21 delivered)

The Leopard 2A6 is the most modern MBT in service in Ukraine. Germany has officially supplied Ukraine with 18, which are or were in service with both the 21st Mechanised Brigade and the 47th Mechanised Brigade.

Three more were officially delivered by Portugal, even though it was later disclosed that Germany would pay for the maintenance of 14 Portuguese Leopard 2A6s in return for the delivery, so that unofficially one can actually also speak of a Ringtausch or a German delivery. More about this here ⬇️

deaidua.org/news/2023/12/2…Image
Image
12) Marder 1A3 (90 delivered / 30 pledged)

The Marder 1A3 is one of the most modern IFVs in service in Ukraine. Germany has supplied Ukraine with a total of 90, 20 of which came from Bundeswehr stocks and 70 from Rheinmetall.

A further 30 are expected to be delivered by Rheinmetall by April/May. It is highly likely that these are the last Marder IFVs that Rheinmetall will be able to supply to Ukraine itself, meaning that future deliveries can very probably only be made via the Bundeswehr.Image

13) M113 G3 DK / G4 DK (54 delivered)

In cooperation with Denmark, Germany delivered 54 M113 G3 DK / G4 DK to Ukraine. The upgrades of the Danish vehicles were financed by the German government.

The video shows an attack on Russian positions by the 3rd Assault Brigade last year.
14) ATF Dingo 2 (50 delivered)

Germany has supplied Ukraine with 50 ATF Dingo 2 which are in service with various units in Ukraine. Unfortunately, at least 6 of these vehicles have already been destroyed by Russian attacks.
15) Special armored Volkswagen Amarok SUV (30 delivered)

Almost nothing is known about this delivery. Germany supplied Ukraine with a total of 30 of these vehicles, at least one of which was destroyed.Image
16) Bergepanzer 2 (15 delivered / 6 pledged)

Germany has already delivered a total of 15 Bergepanzer 2 ARVs to Ukraine. A further six are to follow in the future, five of which will be delivered in cooperation with Denmark.
17) Bergepanzer 3 (2 delivered)

The two Bergepanzer 3 were delivered together with the 18 Leopard 2A6s supplied by Germany, as they were better able to cope with the weight of the tanks. Unfortunately, it can be assumed that both Bergepanzer 3 have since been destroyed.
18) Bridge-laying tank Biber (15 delivered / 11 pledged)

Thanks to its horizontal laying system, the Biber can bridge natural and artificial obstacles in just two minutes, with no need for the crew to leave the safety of the fighting compartment.

Germany only delivered two more bridge-laying tank Biber to Ukraine in January.Image
Image
Image
Image
19) HX81 (90 delivered)

Germany has delivered a total of 90 of these tank transporters to Ukraine. They are in service with the 5th Tank Brigade and the Ukrainian Marine Corps, for example. The vehicles have proven to be indispensable for Ukrainian logistics.Image
Image
Image
Image
20) Logistical support package for a field hospital (1 delivered)

This is a little-known delivery. A few months ago, Germany supported a field hospital in Estonia and Iceland. Germany supplied twelve MAN 8x8 trucks, ten trailers and a crane for the transport.Image
Image
21) Mercedes-Benz Zetros (250 delivered)

Germany has supplied Ukraine with a total of 250 standard Mercedes-Benz Zetros vehicles in various configurations to provide logistical support.Image
Image
22) Mercedes-Benz Zetros tank trucks (water / fuel) (24 delivered / 46 pledged)

However, Germany has also delivered other Zetros models to Ukraine or is planning to do so. Also delivered were 24 tank trucks, which are designed for transporting water or fuel.Image
Image
23) Oshkosh M1070 (12 delivered / 11 pledged)

The Oshkosh M1070s are also among the rather unknown deliveries from Germany to Ukraine. Twelve of these tank transporters have already been delivered, while 11 more will be delivered in the future.
24) Pionierpanzer 2A1 Dachs (5 delivered)

Germany has already delivered five of these AEVs to Ukraine, and more (unknown amount) are to be delivered in the future. Unfortunately, photos and video footage are very rare. Here you can see a Dachs digging out a stuck Ukrainian tank.
25) THeMIS (14 delivered)

Germany has delivered a total of 14 of these UGVs to Ukraine. Seven for CASEVAC and seven as route clearance configuration, with payloads from French defense manufacturer CNIM Systèmes Industriels (below).

The feedback is very positive, even if little else is known about the deployments.Image

🧵 1/6 — During today’s parliamentary question session, Chancellor Merz gave a rare information exchange on the Taurus KEPD-350 – the delivery of which to #Ukraine he himself had vehemently demanded – and in doing so, he spread many half-truths. Here is my detailed fact-check.
🧵 2/6 — Merz claims he said this when he assumed there were enough operational Taurus cruise missiles in the Bundeswehr's stockpiles that Germany could supply.

The fact is that he made this statement on the 16th of October 2024. A whole year earlier, there had already been numerous reports in the German media that, of the approximately 600 cruise missiles in the Bundeswehr’s arsenal, just 150 (25%) to 300 (50%) were operational.

Here is a (short) list of the media outlets and the dates of publication:
— tagesschau / 11th of August 2023
— Deutsche Welle / 11th of August 2023
— Deutschlandfunk / 25th of September 2023
— FAZ / 25th of September 2023
— Berliner Morgenpost / 14th of March 2024

In a motion signed by Merz on the 7th of November 2023, the CDU, led by Merz, calls on the Federal Government, amongst other things (point 5 of the motion): “to address equipment shortfalls in the Bundeswehr resulting from deliveries to Ukraine by immediately procuring replacements and to ensure that the Bundeswehr’s stocks are quickly made fully operational”

And another example: In the conference call between senior Bundeswehr officials, published by Russian propaganda channels in March 2024, in which the Taurus was discussed, the potential number of Taurus cruise missiles to be supplied was put at 50 and a maximum of 100 of the 600 in Bundeswehr stocks.

These are just three examples that clearly show that Friedrich Merz understood at that time that only a small proportion of the Bundeswehr’s existing Taurus cruise missiles were actually operational and could be supplied to Ukraine.Image
Image
🧵 3/6 — He further explains that today Ukraine itself has long-range weapons in its arsenals that it has built itself, partly with Germany's assistance. These are supposed to be far more effective than the small number of Taurus cruise missiles Germany could have supplied.

Regarding the first point: The fact is that, according to publicly available information, Germany has never actually developed any far-reaching weapon systems in collaboration with Ukraine. In 2025, Germany allocated a sum in the hundreds of millions for the production of such weapon systems. There is no evidence of any actual knowledge transfer involving the further development of existing Ukrainian weapons using German expertise or technology, or the production of entirely new weapons.

Regarding the second point: It is difficult to make a comparison in this regard. In the conference call between senior Bundeswehr officials, published by Russian propaganda channels in March 2024, in which the Taurus was discussed, the potential number of Taurus cruise missiles to be supplied was put at 50 and a maximum of 100.

That is not a lot, but Ukraine would only use the Taurus for very specific targets due to its unique capabilities, just like it currently does with for example Storm Shadow and SCALP-EG. Unlike the An-196 Liutyi, the production of which Germany under Merz has verifiably co-financed.

It is true that these are being used very effectively and often in Ukraine, but also, in particular, on Russian soil. However, the Liutyi is unable to reach certain targets due to Russian air defences, or, due to a lack of capability, is unable to damage them sufficiently, let alone destroy them.

For this reason, too, Ukraine relied on US-supplied ATACMS and French-supplied SCALP-EG missiles in early March 2026 – in what has since become a rare deployment – to strike a site near Donetsk Airport used by Russia for the storage, preparation and launch of Shahed-type UAVs (watch the videos).

To the best of my knowledge, the An-196 Liutyi is the only far-reaching weapon systems whos production Germany has verifiably financed and (!) which Ukraine uses very regularly against Russian targets. In my opinion, therefore, a comparison between the two is not appropriate and Merz’s statement is therefore unreasonable.

However, it is also true that the longer the Russian invasion continues, the less important the Taurus becomes for Ukraine. In 2023 and 2024, it needed it far more than it does now in 2026.

Yesterday I posted PART 1 of the Germany-Ukraine support thread. As promised, PART 2 follows now. Brief reminder: Only delivered weapon systems and other assistance, of which I have already seen photos/videos!

26) WiSENT 1 MC (19 delivered / 23 pledged)

The WiSENT 1 MC is a mine-clearing tank based on a Leopard 1 chassis, which is manufactured by FFG in Germany. The minesweeper is manufactured by Pearson Engineering and offers first-class breaching capabilities.Image

27) Mercedes-Benz Unimog ambulances (63 delivered)

Unfortunately, not much is known about these delivered vehicles and where they are used. However, these delivered vehicles are actually very important. We have already seen one or two photos of destroyed vehicles, but here is one in service with the 3rd Assault Brigade (vehicle on the far right).Image
28) Border protection vehicles (252 delivered / 248 pledged)

The border protection vehicles are actually only called that because they are used by various units of the Ukrainian border guards.

They perform important logistical work there, which should certainly be noticeable due to the large number of vehicles supplied. Iveco ACL 90, Iveco VM90 Torpedo 4x4 and Renault TRM 2000 4x4 are supplied.Image

🧵 – In this thread I would like to shortly introduce German arms manufacturers and other German companies that supply weapons, vehicles and other assistance to #Ukraine on behalf of the German government.

1) Aaronia

Aaronia is a company specialising in monitoring, detection and surveillance technology.

Although the company has not officially made any deliveries to Ukraine on behalf of the German government, Germany has supplied Ukraine with over 300 drone detection sensors, jammers, anti-drone devices etc. and Ukrainian soldiers have been trained in drone detection by the company on behalf of the German government since 2022.

2) C. G. Haenel

C. G. Haenel is a manufacturer of firearms. The company supplies two different firearms to Ukraine on behalf of the German government.

Firstly, a total of 5,000 MK 556 fully automatic assault rifles, of which 305 have already been delivered to Ukraine. A large proportion of the MK 556s will probably be deployed with Ukrainian special forces and the International Legion, as the German KSK is training Ukrainian special forces with precisely these weapons.

On the other hand, 450 HLR 338 high-end precision rifles will also be delivered to Ukraine. The delivery of 15 of these long-range sniper rifles has already been completed, while 435 more will be delivered in the future.

3) Diehl Defence

Diehl Defence is one of the most important German suppliers of weapons systems to Ukraine.

As the manufacturer of the IRIS-T SLM air defence system and the related IRIS-T and IRIS-T SL missiles, the company is heavily involved in the air defence of Ukraine.

The German government has already had three of these air defence systems delivered to Ukraine. As things currently stand, a further nine will be delivered by the end of 2025, guaranteeing Ukraine a long-term supply of air defence systems and missiles.

Diehl (in cooperation with LEONARDO) is also the manufacturer of the VULCANO artillery ammunition. Ukraine has received 255 shells of this artillery ammunition in various versions. This is the most modern artillery ammunition in service in Ukraine.

Diehl is also most likely supplying the 40 mm ammunition for automatic grenade launchers financed by Germany for Ukraine. Almost 240,000 rounds have already been delivered, and a further 190,000 rounds will be delivered in the future.

🧵- The Bundeswehr has provided interesting insights into the care provided by Bundeswehr personnel to Ukrainian soldiers who are being trained in Germany. An overview for you ⬇️

“We offer […] an all-round carefree package. […] 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

1/11 Image: Bundeswehr
The Ukrainian soldiers sleep in modern tents that can accommodate up to 8 men. In summer, air conditioning is installed, in autumn the additional sun protection will be removed, and a heating system installed.

2/11 Image: Bundeswehr/Susanne Hähnel
The individual occupancy of the tents is regulated by the soldiers by themselves.

Veterans who stay in the camp for a longer period of time and the Ukrainian military police take up quarters in fortified barracks-like facilities.

In an interview with the SZ, a Ukrainian officer (coordinates technical issues of air defence around Kyiv) revealed the problems that can result from the permanent use of the Gepard SPAAGs supplied by Germany. Image
Sooner or later, transistors of central power supplies burn out. As a result, the automatic target tracking and guidance no longer works properly and twice as much ammunition is used for one shot (which is still not a lot).
According to the Ukrainian officer, the assumption is that it is an issue easy to fix if all the electrical diagrams were available – which they do not have.

Currently, they are buying spare parts in the West and having the Gepard SPAAGs repaired – no permanent solution. Image

According to BILD, Germany will not deliver Taurus KEPD-350s to Ukraine any time soon. This has been confirmed unofficially from government circles in Ukraine as well as from Germany. However, there has not yet been a formal denial to Ukraine.

1/5 Image
Chancellor Olaf Scholz alone is against the delivery. According to the BILD, Germany will do everything to strengthen Ukraine's air defence. A possible delivery of additional Patriot missiles was mentioned specifically.

2/5 Image
Last week, Scholz was asked in an internal meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee why France and GB supply cruise missiles, but Germany continues not to.

Scholz responded that both “can do something we are not allowed to do, so the question doesn't arise.”
