I looked up every candidate running for a judge seat in LA County in the March 5th election. My goal was to find the “least woke” and most likely to restore law and order in LA.
Elimination criteria:
- campaigning on platforms like social/racial/restorative justice, equity, or explicit racial biases
- track record of criminal defense, soft-on-crime or incarceration-last philosophies
- endorsed by LGBTQ+, Democratic, socialist, or progressive political groups.
I then selected from the remaining candidates and picked the ones campaigning on platforms that prioritize:
- family values
- victim’s rights
- small business owners or those who advocate for small businesses
- have a strong criminal prosecution record
- bonus points if they served in the military or come from a military family
Side note: because it’s LA, in some cases I had to pick the least progressive candidate out of a group of all progressives.
Here are my picks and recommendations:
- Office no. 12: Lynn Diane Olsen
- Office no. 39: Jacob Lee
- Office no. 48: Renee Rose
- Office no. 93: Victor Avila (only candidate)
- Office no. 97: Sam Abourched
- Office no. 115: Keith Koyano
- Office no. 124: Emily Theresa Spear
- Office no. 130: Leslie Gutierrez
- Office no. 135: Mohammad Ali Fakhreddine
- Office no. 137: Michael Berg
A lot of people skip over the judge elections on their ballots because they don’t know who the candidates are but they’re probably where your vote has the most weight and biggest impact on local politics so don’t skip it this year.

The TRAs have shut down Hollywood and Highland as part of their “trans day of vengeance” rally.
They held down Hollywood and Highland for about an hour while the cops looked onward and did nothing. This dude (or lady—how could I, a mere human, ever be able to tell without asking?) was posted up in a 00s Tacoma with the plates taped over and coordinating the “actions.”
To their credit, they did have a (clunky) system of allowing Metro busses through the intersection because “pUbLiC tRaNsIt”.
If you can’t see that Jeffrey Marsh is a predator and an immediate danger to any kid in his presence, you are very poor judge of character. I wouldn’t let this man so much as breathe within a hundred yards of my nieces and nephews much less get close enough to say hello.
He is literally the TikTok version of a creepy old man with a white van and candy and we’re teaching kids to admire him instead of running away.
