Tonight Orange Unified school board will consider leasing/licensing public property to Orange County Classical Academy.

The problem-OCCA has money problems.🧵

Before we get into the story, lets breakdown who everyone is:

OUSD- Orange Unified School District
OCCA- Orange County Classical Academy (Hillsdale charter)
OCBE- Orange County Board of Education (wife to OCCA founder)

Now, OCCA received approval from OCBE for a countywide charter. Once that happened, OUSD was no longer responsible for paying OCCA monthly property tax payments.

So, OCCA started to receive money from OCBE, however, due to an error- OUSD kept sending them payments too.

Orange County Classical Academy (OCCA) received DOUBLE payments of tax money and said… NOTHING.

When the error was caught, OCCA said they no longer had the money. It was gone & they needed a payment plan.

How much did they pocket of our tax dollars?

AGAIN, bec of a cash flow problems OCCA is repaying Orange Unified $1.72 Million Dollars in payments.

So why on earth would OUSD even consider renting them more property when OCCA admitted they do not have funds?

4 acres, 25 year agreement, $23k a month.

The OUSD surplus land being considered for licensing is called “Peralta”, it is near the Orange Mall and currently has a driving range, a gymnasium, soccer, sports fields, etc.

OCCA would take 4 acres, forcing other licensees out and would get first dibs on expansions.

OCCA has money issues, so in the agreement (being decided on tonight by OUSD tonight) it would allow them to take on a lender. They can use their lease of OUSD property and get essentially a mortgage.

Now what do you think happens if OCCA defaults on their mortgage payment?

The lender gets the property for the remainder of the 25-year term.

If you recall, two wealthy Lincoln Club members already purchased OCCA a building. So essentially, Lincoln Club and/or Cal Policy Center could end up with control of OUSD property for 25-years.

Think about this:

OCCA has a countywide charter with unlimited approval for more schools. They could “close” after they get this lease, give control of the property to Cal Policy Center/Lincoln Club, never repay OUSD the $1.7M debt, and reopen a “new” school a month later.

Tonight, OCCA parents & kids will be paraded in front of the OUSD school board. They will have tears in their eyes begging the district to let them expand. OUSD Trustee Madison Miner is an OCCA parent, so she will be crying too.

But it is ALL a distraction from the truth.

Corrupt people & organizations want to take our TAX DOLLARS for their PERSONAL GAIN. With little to no oversight.

They do not care about school choice and giving parents a voice, they want our money and now, they want our land.
