SitRep - 16/02/24 - Russian advances in almost every part of Avdiivka

An overview of the daily events in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In Avdiivka, Ukrainian forces seem to have left most positions, which paves the way for further Russian advances.

As usual we start with Russian losses over the past 24 hours. We include visually confirmed damaged or destroyed Russian equipment and/or personnel.
During the day, a Kh-59 cruise missile was shot down.
Several pieces of Russian equipment were destroyed or immobilized/damaged.
A Russian column of two APCs and a tank were immobilized and finished off
Let's continue with the general events. No voting yet on the aid package which includes aid to Ukraine. The US House was sent on a recess.
Three countries have blocked the possibility to purchase artillery shells on the global market. They demand that these are manufactured inside EU with EU money.
In his Germany-France visit, Zelenskyi landed in Germany early this morning. He met with Scholz.
A bit later, both men presented an agreement between Ukraine and Germany in the field of security. It includes long-term commitments.

Scholz also announced a new aid package to Ukraine, mainly focussed on air defense and ammunition.
Germany, while we are at it, updated their aid list supplied to Ukraine. This list is usually updated once a week or once per two weeks.
Zelenskyi left Germany and headed for France.
During a press conference, Macron and Zelenskyi announced a security agreement in the field of security. The content is not yet known.
Stoltenberg once again emphasized that support for Ukraine is highly needed.
The contents of the aid package from Spain to Ukraine are now known.

Avdiivka

Russian forces took control over the Avdiivka City Park near the Avdiivka railway station, Cheburashka strongpoint just north of Zenit Air Base and the drinkwater station in the east. It is likely that the AFU have left most positions in central and east Avdiivka. Image
In the next few tweets, we add confirmation footage of Russian presence in newly occupied area's of Avdiivka. Starting with the drinkwater filtration station in the east near Kruta Balka.
South of Avdiivka, the Cherubashka crossing point was left and occupied by Russian forces.
Central Avdiivka, Russian occupied the City Park. It is now high likely that Avdiivka central railway station is also lost.
Meanwhile, Russia keeps bombing the Avdiivka Coke Plant, besides the 9th quarter, the only area where Ukraine maintains presence.

An assessment of the situation in Avdiivka by the Deputy Commander of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, which was brought into Avdiivka to likely cover the retreat.

Senator Rand Paul is now speaking. He can speak for a full hour and will probably do so. Calling it a 'talking filibuster'. Rand is one of the most fierce opposers of aid to Ukraine. During the beginning of his speech he said that 'Democrats and Republicans together will fly to Kyiv and hand over the money, mabey even in cash'.Image
