When I first started playing in bands, a lot of the time was spent trying to convince people to phone, or message venues/radio stations/record companies/competitions etc to make it seem like there was a demand for your music.

Now I seem to be in a weird position that a bunch of people email venues where I’m playing to get me not to play.
This isn’t because of something I’ve done, but to let them know the “terrible” things, my partner, Birdy has posted online.

Is this just how it is now? I have to live with the fact that a group of lunatics are trying their hardest to bury me. So I cannot play music.
All I’ve ever wanted to do is play music, bring people together and get people having a good time.

I have also been racking my brains about what would happen if I did play a gig and how it affects these people.
normally everyone there has a brilliant time, including myself. I don’t know what difference if I play or not play has any impact on their “cause”.

If you don’t like me or what I do then don’t come, don’t follow me, or just block me on your social media. even if you’re coming to the gig how about just leave the room while I’m playing, or go somewhere else at that point.

Do you really have to rally people up to make sure I don’t play, causing upset to the venue and the promoter and myself? Isn’t there something better you can do with your time to better your world?

I understand there is a group who don’t like Birdy’s “Gender Critical” view points, but she is basically just speaking her mind, and I thought that was an OK thing to do in the UK in 2024.

I have been told multiple times that I don’t have a “fight” in any of these things, I guess because I’m not a woman or a trans person, but it sure feels like I’m caught up in all of it. It’s effecting me daily.

For what it’s worth I do think it is cruel to let troubled people believe they can become something they can never be.

If you’re an adult and you want to try out these surgeries, honestly do what you like, but you can’t expect other people to see you how you see yourself.

I’ve always been open to people being able to live their life how ever they see fit. Call your self what ever you like, dress how ever you like. We pretty much lived in a festival for nearly a decade and very used to people presenting themselves different from the “norm”.

I know for some people all this might be “shocking” but I’m really bored of it, Im bored of people we haven’t seen in years thinking it’s ok to talk about us in such a public way. so if you don’t like it then please kinda go somewhere else.

I’m also a very stubborn person so I’m not gonna give up, if it happens again, I’m just gonna shout about it. I understand this means some venues and promoters won’t book me because they disagree or just don’t want the hassle of dealing with all this.

I don’t see why me and the people who want to see me play should be punished just because of all this total nonsense.

I will find out who these people are, and I will figure out what action is needed to take.
I really hate interacting on the internet in the sort of way, but these people have backed us into a corner.

One good thing is this has made me plan on releasing more music. News on that will come very soon as soon as I’ve started the process.
