1. @RonDeSantis is waiving the white flag on "Don't Say Gay"
He just agreed to a settlement that would limit the application of the law to a narrow set of circumstances that seldom occur in K-12 public schools
LGBTQ rights groups are calling it "a landmark achievement in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights"

2. With the explicit and tacit encouragement of the DeSantis administration, the "Don't Say Gay" law was broadly interpreted to mandate the banning of library books with LGBTQ characters, the cancellation of Pride Month, and the removal of rainbow flags.
3. It also created confusion about whether it was permissible to discuss LGBTQ people in any context in Florida classrooms.
4. Last September, for example, librarians in public schools in Charlotte County, Florida, were instructed by the school district superintendent to remove all books with LGBTQ characters or themes from school and classroom libraries.
5. Free speech advocacy groups repeatedly asked Florida Education Commissioner Manny Diaz to tell schools that the law did not apply to library books.
Their public and private pleas were repeatedly ignored.
6. Now, that's all changed. To settle a lawsuit challenging the law's constitutionality, Florida agreed to tell every school district the law doesn't apply to library books, does not prohibit discussing LGBTQ issues in class, and does not prohibit LGTBQ events, clubs, or symbols
7. The only aspect of the law that remains is a prohibition on classroom instruction about "sexual orientation" and "gender identity." Per the terms of the settlement, an example of this would be "teaching an overview of modern gender theory." This is not something that happens very often, if at all, in K-12 education.
8. Equality Florida, which was part of the lawsuit, called the settlement "a landmark achievement in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights in Florida."
1. The media turned Robert Hur's amateur assessment of Biden's memory into a political crisis.
Collectively, the @washingtonpost, @nytimes, and @WSJ have run 66 articles quoting Hur: a "well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory"
But when the transcript of the Biden interview that undercut Hur's credibility was released on Tuesday, key excerpts received scant coverage
2. While Hur said that Biden had a "poor memory" in his report, during the interview, he remarked that Biden had a "photographic understanding and... recall" of the layout and contents of his lake house in Wilmington, Delaware.
3. Only the @nytimes included this "photographic recall" anecdote in its own coverage of the transcript. It was included in the last sentence of a 2,500-word article that appeared on page A13 of the paper.
@Crimealytics 3. The data from those 14 states reveals that murder and violent crime declined in 12 of 14 states.
The two states where murder increased or remained flat (Rhode Island and Wyoming) had a very small number of total murders relative to other states (28 and 14 respectively)
1. Presidents should not have financial conflicts of interest
That's why Carter put his PEANUT FARM in a blind trust
Trump just signed an agreement that could create a massive financial conflict
And he's disclosing virtually NOTHING about it
🧵
2. In January, Trump was found liable for $83.3 million for defaming E Jean Carroll. It was based on a finding that Trump sexually assaulted Carroll in a dressing room in the mid-90s and then, when Carroll talked about it, called her a liar.
TODAY, Trump has to either pay up or post a bond guaranteeing the money pending appeal
3. Trump tried to convince the judge to let him appeal without posting a bond, but it didn't work.
So he submitted a bond issued by Chubb in the amount of $91.6 million. (110% of the judgment to cover interest).
1. @elonmusk told his 175 million followers on this platform that Biden committed "treason" by "secretly" chartering flights to bring 320K "illegal immigrants" to the United States
Let's be clear: EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS CLAIM IS A BRAZEN LIE

2. Musk is referring to a parole program for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans.
THIS IS NOT A SECRET!
Biden announced it in a speech on 1/5/23. It was covered extensively in the media. It was promoted in press releases. It is featured now on the @USCIS homepage!
@USCIS 3. Further, Biden is not chartering any flights. individuals are buying their own tickets on commercial flights
"If the beneficiary has been authorized to travel to the United States, they must arrange & fund their own travel," the USCIS website states
1. A Congressman, @RepMikeCollins, participated in a vehemently anti-Semitic attack against a @washingtonpost journalist
His response was to pretend it didn't happen
Prominent corporations that are backing Collins' reelection are taking the same approach
🧵
2. The spark for the incident was a story by reporter @MauraJudkis about the closure of a CVS in DC.
Judkis acknowledged an increase in crime may have been a contributing factor, but noted the data doesn't support the current "moral panic" about shoplifting
To set the scene, she described the United States as "a sticky-fingered nation built on stolen land."
@MauraJudkis 3. This prompted the publication of an article by Fox News, republished in the New York Post with a misleading headline, "Washington Post reporter says shoplifting not a big deal because US built on ‘stolen land.’"
This is not something that Judkis says in the piece.
1. Major media outlets are pushing a false narrative about Nex Benedict's death
That narrative is being used as a cudgel by anti-LGBTQ extremists
The @AP and @CBSNews, thus far, have not issued corrections and are not answering questions

2. On Feb 21, the Owasso Police Department posted a statement to Facebook claiming that "preliminary information" from the medical examiner indicated that Nex "did not die as a result of trauma."
The @AP immediately published this piece: "Oklahoma police say nonbinary teen’s death was not result of injuries from high school fight"
Of course, that was NOT what the police said
@AP 3. The Owasso Police said that the medical examiner had preliminarily "indicated" that Nex's death was not due to "trauma." The word "trauma" does not appear in the @AP's report.
