Biggest news to come out of Thailand since #สุขุมวิท11: The city of Lopburi is experiencing unprecedented violence between two monkey gangs, authorities have been mobilised to quell chaos and are currently attempting to relocate the primates.
Local authorities successfully apprehended one of the gang leader, Ai Krao, using a tranquilizer gun. Upon his arrest, cries could be heard from his subordinates.
On the 2nd day, 7 individual monkeys were arrested. Locals responded by saying, ‘Is that it? There’s a thousand of them.’ Authorities reiterated that ‘The monkeys’ familiarity with firearms and their ability to interpret human body language pose challenges in apprehending them.
A hierarchy chart has been published, showing Yellow as Krao’s group and Green as Yak’s group. A citywide monkey-hunt is underway to capture the remaining leaders, aiming to temporarily quell the violence and provide authorities with additional time to address the broader issue.
In March 2020, a Lopburi monkey gang took a 2 hour train journey to Nakhon Sawan (and back) in order to search for food where they also fought and dominated the local monkey population there.

With no rain for several months in many areas of Thailand and a record breaking heatwave, a rain-making ceremony was held. Traditionally, a real cat would be used, but it seems the locals decided on Doraemon instead—a modern twist against animal cruelty.
Thailand is taking this news very seriously. There is concern over the legitimacy of the rain dance, it it said that the tradition requires a female cat, however, Doraemon is a male cat. The news presenter said “they should’ve used Dorami instead”.
The presenters correctly brought up the fact that this rain dance, despite the absence of real cats, still serves an important purpose: to notify the community of a real problem. This alarm bell enables people to come together to share resources and provides psychological relief.
