This happened in neutral waters. The Americans' haste may have been due to the fact that, according to Reuters, Russian military vessels were already nearby.

The operation to seize the vessel from the air is supported by the refueling tanker KC-135T Stratotanker, the patrol aircraft P-8A Poseidon of the US Air Force and the British Poseidon MRA1. Also, several US special-purpose aircraft, including the Pilatus U-28A Draco, are involved in the operation area.

This precedent raises a big question about Russia's real capabilities to protect its own merchant ships in neutral waters and the feasibility of the entire policy of issuing Russian registration to ships from other countries.

Civilians hit celebrating new years:

“Three Ukranian drones hit a cafe and a hotel on the Black Sea coast in Kherson region.

According to preliminary data, more than 50 people were injured, and 24 people died.

Many people were burned alive. A child was killed.

One of the drones was carrying an incendiary mixture. The same mixtures were used by Kiev militants to burn our fields in the summer.
Now they have deliberately burned people.”

Three drones struck a cafe and a hotel on the Black Sea coast in the Kherson region, 24 people died, and more than 50 were injured.

What's particularly cynical is that the strike was carried out after a reconnaissance drone waited for the best moment- almost at the stroke of midnight. Due to the massive fire, it was not possible to rescue more people. The fire was extinguished only in the early morning hours.
