To close off the weekend, here's a small #OSINT thread in which I explain how I geolocated these Israeli soldiers inside the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Jenin Refugee Camp using YouTube videos. Want to learn how to do the same? Make sure to read my following steps.
While it's difficult to find the location when filmed inside, it is not impossible. In a second video, we see one of the men inside of the mosque looking out of the window and notice that they are somewhere inside Jenin. The only question is: where?
The first step in getting answers is: YouTube. Let's try and see if there are any videos that have people walking through Jenin to see if we could find the spot that the soldier is looking at outside of the mosque. Wait a minute.... There is:

#OSINT Thread

Sometimes you might come across an image or video that you might think is impossible to geolocate. Take for example, this video that we found during our current ongoing investigation into the Israeli raid on Jenin in early July, 2023.
A lesson that I've learned that remains useful but might be forgotten by beginning researchers is that the press always takes photos afterwards when such an event happens. I usually take a visit across different news websites using search terms.

As you can see underneath, this matches a part of what we see in the video. With the help of photos taken by Al Jazeera, we have given ourselves a wider perspective of the environment. Architectural features of the buildings and the antenna on the top left stand out. Image

NEW | A monthslong investigation by @cnni in collaboration with @GFLocating and myself, based on analysis of videos from the pogrom in Huwara, exclusive testimony, interviews with eyewitnesses and journalists, shows Israeli soldiers did little to stop it.

CNN found that, not only did the forces fail to stop the riots in Huwara, they did not protect residents as settlers set fire to Palestinian homes and businesses and blocked emergency services from responding.
Instead, when residents threw rocks in reaction to the settlers’ aggression, Israeli forces fired at the Palestinians with tear gas and stun grenades, according to analysis of the footage and eyewitness accounts.

Onlangs in gesprek geraakt met de Russische, ‘A’, een leeftijdsgenoot- en inwoner van een grote stad in dat land. Ze legde mij uit dat veel vrienden van haar leven in angst, mentale problemen ervaarde, omdat zij een andere mening hebben over “de speciale operatie” in Oekraïne. /1
