Daniel Day Lewis visiting Gaza for the first time in 2005.

He wrote of his experience in The Times. In the article he says:

“This is a state of apartheid. It's taken me less than a week to lose impartiality. In doing so, I may as well be throwing stones at tanks.” Image
Colombia in its submission to the ICJ asked the Court to apply a ‘general’ rather than ‘immediate’ context for the Gaza Genocide. For good reason.

Palestinian dehumanisation has been set in motion for decades. Day-Lewis writes in 2005. The genocide is merely the ripening effect. Image

There’s a much longer exposition to make about the words uttered by @BarakRavid here, but just understand this:

What Barak describes - command orders to shoot every man of fighting age - are effectively the command orders that formed the Srebrenica Genocide in Bosnia.

1/
Image
The IDF now claims to have killed 13,000 ‘terrorists’. Gaza’s health ministry reports today (6/4/2023) that 11,000+ men have been killed.

“Shoot every man of fighting age”, and some more it seems; there are no men for the IDF in Gaza - only targets.

2/
Until now, Israel has also tried masking its killing campaign behind a humanitarian smokescreen: publishing staged images of treating elderly/child Palestinians, or claiming ‘safe zones’ (later bombed).

The theatrics attempting to veil genocidal intent must be rejected.

Israel claims to have killed Faiq Al-Mabhouh, Director of the Central Operational Authority for Gaza’s Interior Ministry during the attack on Al-Shifa Hospital.

Has been said to no end, but being employed by Hamas still renders a person a civilian, as Hamas governs Gaza.

🧵

1/ Image
Al-Mabhouh held the rank of Brigadier-General, overseeing the police for Gaza, coordinating aid and directing protection for Gazans during aid deliveries (following Flour Massacres).

Israel’s continued targeting of police officers seeks to create a security vacuum, however.

2/ Image
The IDF/Shin Bet released a statement stating Al-Mabhouh was “working to advance terror activity”, which is purposely vague, despite Al-Mabhouh’s role in a civilian capacity.

A playbook well worn-out by the IDF/Shin Bet.

Hamas has released in full its response to the Paris Framework Agreement drafted by Qatar et al for a ceasefire.

They likely done so to circumvent the ensuing misinformation that will circulate in the media, as Israel is likely to reject it, and to generate public convo.

🧵
The Response outlines a roadmap to a full ceasefire that would take place over 135 days in three phases, each stage lasting 45 days.

The text of the document is copied verbatim below.

The guarantors of the Agreement are:
- Egypt
- Qatar
- Turkey
- Russia
- The United Nations
1️⃣ Phase 1: 45 Days

This humanitarian Phase aims to:

- Release all Israeli women and children (under the age of 19, non-recruits), the elderly and sick, in exchange for a specific number of Palestinian prisoners.

This is the Telegram channel the IDF had been using for the psyop. Had been monitoring it throughout until it stopped posted in December, shortly after it had first been exposed (and yes, the channel is referenced by South Africa in its ICJ submission).

🧵: Some of the content
Image
Video the IDF soldiers who desecrated a mosque in Jenin, while singing Hanukkah songs over the mosque speakers.

The IDF went on to suspend several of the perpetrators, but shared the content on their psyop channel anyway. Image

Israel’s Duvdevan Unit led an assault on Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin today, killing three Palestinians.

Israeli commentators have defended the action saying they belonged to militant groups.

This doesn’t preclude Israel committing a list of war crimes from start to end.

🧵

1/
First, housekeeping:

IDF/Shin Bet say these Palestinians were planning an attack.

Validating the claim is near impossible, especially given credibility of both IDF and Shin Bet.

In any event, all three enjoyed protected person civilian status at the time of their killing.

2/ Image
• Hospital: War Crime One

Israel’s attack wasn’t only distinct disrespect of the hospital’s sanctity, but brazen disregard for very restrictive prohibitions: not being the object of attack.

One Palestinian was even being treated, thus Ibn Sina hadn’t lost protected status.

A thread of global reactions to ICJ provisional measures ruling in South Africa v Israel as they come.

🧵

First the EU🇪🇺: “Orders of the International Court of Justice are binding on the Parties. The European Union expects their full, immediate and effective implementation.” Image
Turkey’s 🇹🇷 Erdogan welcomes the decision to issue provisional measures.
Spain 🇪🇸 welcomes the judgement from the ICJ today ordering provisional measures, and “calls on all parties to respect and comply with these measures in their entirety”.

Huge.
