#Israel's successful raid to rescue two hostages from #Rafah on Monday morning wasn't the operation Benjamin #Netanyahu had in mind, but there are no signs that a big IDF operation is imminent – no matter what the prime minister says.

The successful Israeli special forces raid to rescue two hostages from Rafah is not the Rafah operation Netanyahu has been talking up in recent days.

These are two very different operations in terms of scale, the type of military units involved & their objective. The big Rafah operation Netanyahu has been openly discussing will include entire brigades & last for weeks, if not months.

IMPORTANT:
Lebanon’s #Al_Akhbar newspaper published the full text of the response to the #Paris proposal that #Hamas delivered to Qatari & Egyptian mediators earlier today
The 3-page long response, to reach a hostage/ceasefire deal, outlines a 3-stage deal, guaranteed by Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, Russia, & the UnitedNations.
Both the #American & #Israeli sides received a copy of the 3-page-long response, including amendments to the “Framework Agreement” proposal, in addition to a special appendix of guarantees & demands aimed at stopping the aggression & addressing its affects.

First stage : 45 days
Described as the humanitarian phase & aims to:
—release all Israeli detainees, women & children (under the age of 19, not conscripts), the elderly & the sick, in exchange for a specific number of Palestinian prisoners (defined in the detailed appendix at the end.)
— intensifying humanitarian aid & repositioning (IOF) forces outside populated areas.
— allowing the start of reconstruction & the rebuilding of all hospitals, homes & facilities in all areas of the Gaza Strip & allowing entry of necessities to set up camps & shelters to home the population.
— the resumption of all humanitarian services provided by the United Nations & its agencies according to the following:
- A temporary cessation of military operations & a cessation of aerial reconnaissance
— a redeployment of Israeli forces far & outside the populated areas in the entire Gaza Strip, to be aligned alongside the dividing line, in order to enable the parties to complete the exchange of detainees and prisoners.

—The two sides will release Israeli detainees, women & children (under the age of 19, not conscripts), the elderly, & the sick, in exchange for a number of Palestinian prisoners, provided that this is carried out during this stage in a way that ensures the release of all persons whose names are included in previously agreed upon lists.
—Intensifying the daily entry of humanitarian aid quantities necessary & sufficient to meet the needs of the population (to be determined) including fuel, & the like,
— allowing the arrival of appropriate quantities of humanitarian aid to all areas in the Gaza Strip, including the north of the Strip, & the return of the displaced to their places of residence in all areas of the sector.

Do read this important & interesting article in #Haaretz:
“Hezbollah is believed to be the first to use precise antitank missiles to target civilian structures. Dozens of #Israeli buildings have taken direct hits - and now even towns that were not evacuated are within firing range.

“Since October 7, #Hezbollah has fired mortars and rockets, as well as incessant artillery, at #IDF outposts and border communities. But what particularly stands out in the current round of fighting is the high proportion of antitank missiles fired from #Lebanon. Hezbollah's use of this precision weapon, especially against civilian targets, is unprecedented in Israel and perhaps the world.

“The list of communities hit by antitank missiles and the damage to civilian infrastructure is long and spreads along the entire length of the Lebanese border. Haaretz has obtained figures indicating that scores of homes, public buildings, chicken coops, businesses and vehicles have been hit by this fire in the moshavim Avivim, Dovev, Zar'it and Shtula, and the kibbutzim Misgav Am and Sasa, and other communities.

#Israel’s security establishment and the State Attorney's Office are concerned that the International Court of Justice at the #Hague will charge Israel with genocide in the #Gaza Strip – this at the request of #SouthAfrica, which petitioned the court over the weekend.

#Haaretz has learned that a senior legal expert dealing with the matter has in recent days warned #IDF brass, including Chief of Staff #Herzl_Halevi, that there is real danger that the court will issue an injunction calling on #Israel to halt its fire, noting that Israel is bound by the court's rulings.

In its appeal to the court, #SouthAfrica claimed that #Israel is committing genocide in #Gaza and is not acting to punish those inciting to genocide.
It accused Israel of "indiscriminate use of force and forcible removal of residents," and it claimed that among the reported Israeli actions are "crimes against humanity and war crimes."
It also claimed that some of these actions meet the basic definition of genocide.

A letter from a friend in #Gaza:
“I don’t know whether my letter will reach you & I was hesitant to write it. But then again, I feel it’s is my duty & obligation to convey the pain & steadfastness of our people in #Gaza & to let our loved ones in the world, who are worried about us, know that we are fine & to relay some of the scenes.

“Gaza now reflects pride, dignity, nobility, and patience. These are what the Gazan people have been about throughout history.
But the situation now, is more than disastrous and beyond a catastrophic Nakba.

Still, by god’s grace and because of God’s grace and mercy upon us, our resolve is very, very, very high.
He strengthened the hearts & endurance of the families of the martyrs & those wounded, gave them peace, & inflicted conflict, disagreement & strife within the enemy’s leadership.

Round 1 of #Israel Vs #Hamas goes to #Gaza. Why & how is this a victory, you may ask despite the thousands of Palestinians killed?

❗️Lest you forget #Hamas offered #Netanyahu a prisoner exchange deal within the first few days post October 7.
A ‘wholesale or partial exchange’ of hostages/prisoners in return for #Palestinians held in all Israeli prisoners.
❗️Both were rejected.

Instead, Netanyahu opted to launch an all out war on Gaza that has so far killed over 14,000 Palestinians, mostly women child children, despite saying Israel would make every effort to complete its operation in Gaza "with minimal civilian casualties."

Declared Israeli aims:
❗️Free all their hostages/prisoners.
❗️Defeat Hamas — albeit with no idea what that actually means.
❗️Find & destroy Hamas tunnel labyrinth, including coveted centre of command allegedly running under Al_Shifa hospital.

Assumptions:
❗️Troops will roll into Gaza quickly & eradicate Hamas. After all, he promised his country & the world he would “destroy Hamas.”
❗️Palestinians from Gaza can be evicted & relocated in #Egypt’s #Sinai & other Arab countries.
