How exactly does the @Warriors floor get built?

Photo wizard @CAGisMe & I loitered in Chase Center between Springsteen & the Ws/Mavs game to witness the hidden magic of a court conversation ✨🏀

Don’t miss Carlos’ thrilling time-lapse video!

“The @Warriors should sell tickets to watch *this*”

Most court conversions are at 3 a.m.; incredibly fast & efficient so it’s ready for morning shootaround

Salute to the workers of @IATSE @IATSE_Local16 ✊🏼— especially the orange mallet guy at the end ⬇️

I wrote some words but Carlos' time-lapse is the real draw here ⬇️

He secured cameras in the far reaches of Chase Center & captured 8 hours of transformation in 1 minute.

Fascinating - like watching ants deconstruct a Triscuit, except with an NBA court.

"From the side, it looks as if Klay Thompson and Jonathan Kuminga have been playing basketball on a fine tiramisù."

High on the list of cool things we saw watching a @Warriors court conversion: The cake-like appearance of the floor cross sections 🍰🍰🍰

How bad was the Spanish flu of 1918 in San Francisco?

Dancing was banned, church was closed and going in public with no mask meant 10 days in jail.

A century before coronavirus, thousands died in the city. Rare photos & @sfchronicle archive stories ⬇️

Was surprised/not surprised by how many drug companies and drug stores made ... unsubstantiated ... advertising claims about the 1918 Spanish flu.

(We now know that gargling with Listerine was NOT a legit preventative measure for one of the deadliest pandemics in history.) ImageImage
This 1918 archive find was devastating. The story and photos ...

“There were dark-eyed babies and fair babies, large and small. All were pale and wan. All were silent. None were attended by mothers and fathers. Many had been made orphans since they had come to the big hospital.” ImageImage

Chronicle managing editor Karl Anderson in 1929. Walls have been reconfigured, but this is basically @AudreyCooper's office now. Judging by the look on his face, he's approving travel invoices.
There's a Californians Inc. "Let's Grow" poster on the ground. Big S.F. skyscraper boom was in the 1920s. (Art Deco PacBell Building and Russ Building included.)
Anyone have an idea what this device is on the 1920s @sfchronicle managing editor's desk? Some kind of date stamp? Pencil sharpener? Cigarette lighter?
