1) Create a Taobao account.
Follow this guide: I suggest using Taobao all throughout on your desktop/laptop because of the “translate to English” functionreddit.com/r/WagoonLadies…

2) Go to the AirFanta store
OR , whichever works for you
Tick the “Always translate Chinese (Simplified)” box. In later steps, if the translation refuses to show up, just refresh the page and it should be translated automatically. fengruijing.tmall.com/shop/view_shop…

3) Pick whichever model you want to buy. I bought this one:

4) Add to 🛒. Remember to buy replacement filters.

The highlighted filters both have the same dimensions, but only the “dual-purpose” one can be used for laminar flow (more details later). detail.tmall.com/item.htm?_u=f2…

5) For shipping, I was able to order directly from Taobao and have it delivered to my 🇵🇭 address (see pics). However, AirFanta has since disabled int’l shipping in their Taobao store. They said this is cos the markup in Taobao isn’t big enough to allow them to factor in the

6) cost of return & replace
Basically, if there are any factory defects,
- customer will send their order back to 🇨🇳
- intra-🇨🇳 shipping from Amazon/Aliexpress warehouse to AirFanta
- AirFanta will send a new order to customer
The total shipping would be hefty but this cost is

7) included in the Aliexpress/Amazon list price. However, it isn’t factored in the Taobao price. So if you want to order from Taobao, you can only do so via Superbuy or a cargo forwarding service like Angkat PH (haven’t tried them but they seem ok). Choose sea cargo for lower SF

8) For orders placed in AliExpress/Amazon, there’s a 1-year warranty for factory defects such as a defective AC DC adapter or unusually noisy fans (examples provided by AirFanta)

9) For orders placed in Taobao (and shipped via Superbuy), the after-sales service—return & replace—is not available. So basically no warranty. If your unit arrives with a defect, you have to deal with it yourself. The AC DC adapter requirements are as follows: 12V max., 4A min.

10) (fellow SEAsians, these are readily available in Shopee/Lazada). So if your AC DC adapter arrives defective, it’ll be easy to deal with. Now if the fans are too noisy, then you can either adjust your noise tolerance (difficult, I know) or try to fix/have it fixed/replaced

11) Despite the difficulties with Taobao though, it still shouldn’t be written off. Not sure if this’ll always be the case, but I heard that AirFanta’s Amazon & AliExpress stores will only carry a few models. In contrast, their Taobao store has their entire product range.

12) On to the product review
As expected, product came in its disassembled form. Here’s what it looked like both in its wrapped and unwrapped forms, and in its disassembled and assembled forms

13) As demonstrated in the video, you don’t have to worry about the whole contraption falling apart due to slight movement. It will hold its own. Just don’t drop it or bang it into the wall (kind of a given, yeah).

14) For this particular model, the Fengruijing 4 dual-purpose type and Fengruijing 4 traditional type purifier itself (as in fans + filters) are priced the same. But for the replacement filters, the dual-purpose filters are more expensive than the traditional type.

15) Basically, if you assemble it in such a way that the filters & fans look black from the outside, you get maximal mixing, great for when you want to use it as a room air purifier. CADR: 350 m3/h
But if you reverse everything so that filters & fans look white from the outside…

16) you get a product that is similar in function to the AirFanta 4Lite laminar air purifier. So the “all white” configuration means you minimize air mixing and get a straight blast of nearly 100% clean air if you make the purifier face you

17) AirFanta says for the laminar mode of the Fengruijing 4 air purifier, your head must face the filter

You can verify using any PM2.5 monitor you have like the Qingping Air Monitor Lite (which is what I have)

18) So in summary, I think this is an excellent product that everyone should consider getting if they have the means to do so.
#1, it’s disassemblable
#2, it’s portable
#3, it’s dual purpose—you can use it as a normal air purifier (turbulent flow) or as a laminar flow one

19) The way it’s designed means it’s perfect for travel but it’s still not a substitute for a good mask (no air purifier is). Noise level is decent, CADR is pretty high, and it’s lightweight + aesthetic. I think this is the best “CR box-type” purifier for us in the developing 🌏
