SitRep - 17/04/24 - π₯Big attack on Crimea & US aid coming?
An overview of the daily events in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Dzhankoy air base was struck, destroying S-400/300 launchers and a radar. Also, the bill text for aid to Ukraine was published.
Overnight, Ukraine attacked Dzhankoy Air Base in occupied Crimea. Strong fires and secondary explosions, presumably from munition/missiles cooking off, were reported. Later we got to know what was hit... this attack was a big one.
The damage inflicted was huge. Three S-400 launchers (some claim even 5) and a radar were destroyed. Also two S-300 launchers and anti-aircraft missiles as well as Russian personnel were hit and destroyed/killed. Dozens of servicement went 'missing'.
Ukraine aimed for more big targets today. The 29B6 over the horizon radar in Kovilkino, with a 1000km range, was targetted and reportedly hit. Ukraine again used converted A-22 Foxbot aircraft into kamikaze drones to hit the huge radar.
Another big target was the Tupolev-bomber factory in Kazan which was subject to strikes from drones. It is not yet clear what damage was inflicted to this factory at first glance.
During the day, news came out that despite strong pressure from the GOP MAGA block, Johnson pushes forward on his plan to bring four separately bills up for a vote of which one consists aid to Ukraine.
