The People have advised that their Opening Statement will take 45 minutes.
The defense says 25 minutes for its Opening.
UPDATE on trial scheduling today: Court will recess at 12:30 pm ET today, not 2 pm.
Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg is present today, seated behind his team in the front row.
Once again, it does not appear that there are any members of Trump's family present in the courtroom today.
Re. Michael Cohen's testimony, Judge Merchan has drafted a limiting instruction to be read to the jury. Neither party objects to it.
Judge Merchan then addressed the defense's renewed objection from last week regarding the introduction of the Access Hollywood transcript. He rules that he will not revisit the issue so the transcript will still be allowed to be used.
Now, Judge Merchan announces his ruling from the bench on the People's Sandoval Notice:
If Trump takes the stand the people can inquire about the following six determinations, in four separate proceedings:
-Feb 16, 2024 he violated the law by fraudulently misstating the value of his assets
-Oct 28, 2022 he failed to remove an untrue personally identifying post about law clerk and was fined $5000
-Oct 21, 2023 he intentionally violated court order by continually attacking court clerk & fine was $10,000
-Carroll v Trump the defendant defamed E. Jean Carroll by making false statements
-Carroll v Trump II the defendant made false statements about Carroll with actual malice
-NYAG v Trump Donald J Trump Foundation engaged in repeated and willful self dealing transactions
The judge now is reading the preliminary jury instructions to the jurors so that they have an understanding of what to expect during the course of this trial.
The jurors are advised that they can take notes, if they so choose. The notes cannot be a distraction, though, for them during the trial. The notes are to refresh their recollection and are for that juror's own personal use.

Now, the DA's Office shifts to a line of questioning about Karen McDougal.
Pecker says Dylan Howard advised in June of 2016 that she claimed that she had a sexual, romantic relationship with Trump for a year.
Pecker called Cohen and told him what Dylan had told Pecker. Before Pecker could finish, Cohen said it was absolutely untrue. Pecker said this was different and said we should vet this out first. Cohen said it was a good idea.
After a brief 15-minute recess, Pecker's testimony resumes.
Pecker is handed a thumb drive. He testifies that he reviewed its contents (AMI emails) and that they are consistent with how AMI maintained its emails.
After a longer than usual sidebar, the thumb drive is admitted into evidence.
Prosecution asks Pecker is he knows who Dino Sajudin is. He was the doorman at Trump's penthouse and Dino claimed that "Trump fathered an illegitimate child with his housekeeper."
Prosecution shows Pecker Exhibit 152, which is a document containing several headlines about Trump between August 2015 and the election, and Pecker confirms the headlines correspond to stories that actually ran in the Enquirer during that period.
Pecker on negative stories about Trump's opponents: Michael Cohen would call me and say we would like you to run an article on a certain person...and then Cohen would send me a piece on Ted Cruz, for example, and the Enquirer would embellish it from there.”
B/c Cohen wasn't a part of the campaign, when Cohen said "we" I always thought Cohen meant him and Trump.
Pecker said his understanding was that Cohen was physically in every aspect of Trump Tower and therefore, heard things or injected himself into issues relating to the campaign.
Pecker: "I was the person who thought that a lot of women would come out to try to sell their stories because Mr. Trump was well known as the most eligible bachelor. And dated the most beautiful women. And it was clear that based on my past experience that when someone was running for public office like this, it is very common for these women to call up magazine like the National Enquirer to try to sell their stories.”
Pecker: "Yes, when i say mutually beneficial, writing positive stories about Trump and covering the election and writing negative stories about his opponents will only help newsstand sales so to me that was my incentive, it was also going to benefit his campaign and both parties benefited from it."
Prior to that 2015 meeting, Pecker had NEVER purchased a story about Trump in order NOT to run it.
