Patricia Driscoll legal saga is over. She was sentenced Tuesday to 2 yrs probation & $75 fine. She pled guilty in 2023 to failing to maintain records on $5,874 she received from Armed Forces Foundation (which could create confusion whether it was taxable/loans/non-taxable). (1/4)
Driscoll, the Kurt Busch ex who used NASCAR platform to help with her foundation for military personnel/veterans, was indicted in 2016 on much more serious fraud & other charges. (2/4)
Driscoll found guilty at trial & sentenced in 2019 to 366 days. Won appeal in 2021 for new trial based on instructions given to deadlocked jury. Also at issue: IRS agent not identifying himself, when asked, at child custody hearing where Driscoll detailed finances. (3/4)
In the five years since the trial, a key government witness/foundation accountant was indicted for fraud in 2021 involving another veterans foundation in an unrelated case, which was still pending when he got sick and died in December 2023. (4/4)
