To reporters writing this up: this was a unilateral, surprise attack by Zionists. Encampment residents were eating lentils and sitting around. Suddenly reports of men in plastic white masks at the gates. Then poles thrown. Shouts of GET DOWN... skunk spray...
People all around me were hacking and crying from gas. A firework - a massive firework - flew over our heads and exploded. Im talking dodger stadium sized firework. BOOM.
That’s how it started. We were all quickly drenched in chemical spray - smelled like skunk. But there were multiple kinds of sprays! Some had eyes burning. Some were coughing. I smelled like skunk. Kept getting hit with mysterious liquid droplets.
I was doing an interview when the masked men arrived.
Also, the protesters were not fighting back. They had a policy to not engage. That went on for a very long while. Heated clashing really began in earnest about an hour in. Until then, it was Zionists trying to crash barricades and protesters holding the line, not responding
Clashing is too sides of a word. I saw protestors trying to hold the line. I left when it was getting a little more heated. I don’t know what happened next. I will be astonished to see any reporting calling this mutual I really will
Too both sides* of a word.
Im all over the place. Key detail. When it started, protesters were handing out ear plugs because the Zionists had been blasting strange sounds into the camp all evening - I believe when the attack arrived it was a baby crying - yesterday they played oct 7 videos on a loop
