But there’s no clear framework for measuring prices across interfaces with OFAs and AMMs… until now

The Uniswap Labs research team proposes a new methodology 👇
This methodology compares price improvements for interfaces with OFAs, focusing on three key factors:

➡️ Liquidity access
➡️ Gas optimization
➡️ Priority fee settings

We applied this methodology using data from the WETH/USDC pair on Ethereum (the top pair by volume) ⤵️
Our early application of this framework uncovered that the Uniswap interface is competitive with leading aggregators and OFAs

2/ Hooks are like plugins. They can introduce code at key points in the lifetime of a pool—like before or after a swap.
This lets developers innovate on Uniswap’s liquidity and security to create pools with custom features.
3/ Hooks expose tradeoffs in Uniswap v3 to developers instead.
They can make their own decisions to create custom features in hooks and plug them into the core pool contract.

2/ First a refresher on blockchains:

Blockchains are a sequence of data made out of “blocks” where each new block builds on the previous, "confirming" it after validator agreement.

Blockchain data can be traced back to the very first block & is unchangeable once validated.
3/ A hard fork is a permanent divergence from a blockchain’s latest version that allows for an upgraded set of rules to be introduced.

Hard forks happen when every validator and node essentially “upgrade” their software to the new version at the same time.
