Sunday Rant on: Normalization, the Media, and Truth

(1/10) History will speak to the cult; how easily they were gaslit; how they embraced the most flawed cult leader ever; rallied around his grievance; railed against their own interest; relied on an obvious con. But the true disaster was AND IS widespread normalization of a madman.

(2/10) That disaster continues to ratchet. And after Trump, there will be Trump residue. The Republican Party is dug into the commitment to avoid inclusion, so they know that if they don't regain power now, they'll not regain it for some time. Beyond personal gain, THIS is what drives their cravenness, and willingness to discard our current form of democracy for Minority Rule.

(3/10) And the mainstream media!!?? So disappointing. Most of them have made normalization of Trump a priority! Even now, when he stands there sweating and sniffling with giant pupils, they offer no conjecture that he's medicated. And when he gaffes and slurs and forgets where he is or who he's running against, they make fun, but avoid broaching the topic of potentially deteriorating neurology.

(4/10) Add this to the media's longstanding avoidance of Trump's well-chronicled aberrant and dangerous psychopathology, and I have to ask - does anyone in the media feel even a little bit like maybe they've enabled the VERY THING that they know should NEVER be enabled - psychopathy disguised as a political movement - criminality disguised as candidacy. For what? Some ratings?

(5/10) Is it even necessary to ASK how the press would treat the same medicated demeanor, slurred and frazzled speech, and nonsensical levels of misstatement, IF IT CAME FROM BIDEN!? And imagine for a moment if you or I fomented violence and insulted families of jurists trying one of our cases. We'd be sent to lock-up IN A NANOSECOND!

(6/10) Normalization is bad enough. Unequal normalization is worse. Normalization of a madman - the worst of all.
And we know why it happens - because for the media, Trump IS the driver of angst, politics as entertainment, and clicks. And by "the media" - I don't mean hosts, reporters, or guests, I mean those who set policy, who feel they serve shareholders first, and the public second.
Not ALL media is dependent like that ...

(7/10) BEFORE THE ELECTION, we're releasing a film called #UNTRUTH. It'll make sense out of where we are and why we're here. It'll explain disinformation and Trumpism. It'll arm us AND help protect democracy. It will ALSO help flip many moderate, independent, undecided, and even conservative voters. Because it's a behavioral perspective, science above politics; facts above feelings; information above judgmentalism. The kind of balanced truth we don't often get in the media. It'll speak truth to ANYONE not entranced. It's a follow-up to our 2020 film #UNFIT.

(8/10) We finished our final interviews - the film will be released before the election. It's an indie film featuring psychologists and sociologists and pundits; some you know well. We hope everyone watches when it's released - it WILL be widely distributed.
