COVID indicators are still declining across the U.S., similar to the same period last year. This trend is expected to continue until a new wave begins.
During the past week, 5,098 Americans were hospitalized with COVID, down 9% from the week before. Nearly 5,000 people are currently hospitalized.
This is the 42nd week in a row with more than 500 new COVID deaths in the U.S., or 57,511 deaths during the same period.
So far this year, more than 3.1 million cases of COVID have been reported in the U.S., causing 277,070 hospitalizations and 28,017 deaths.
