[Q1 2024] Nintendo Results (January 1st, 2024 – March 31st, 2024)

Nintendo Switch shipped 1.96m units this quarter, down from 3.07m units last year.
The system finishes the fiscal year with 15.7 million units distributed, over 141.32 million consoles to date.

Nintendo is forecasting 13.5m consoles in the next fiscal year (ending March 2025).

Breakdown of Switch numbers by model:
• The base Nintendo Switch shipped 470k units (representing 24% of this quarter’s shipments)
• Nintendo Switch OLED shipped 1.16m units (59%)
• Nintendo Switch Lite shipped 340k units (17%)

Mario Vs. Donkey Kong ship over 1.12m units in 6 weeks.
Already close to the original game which sold 1.37m units on GBA.

Princess Peach Showtime ship over 1.22m units in 10 days.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder ship another 1.48m units for a total of 13.44m copies in 5 months.
Now surpassing New Super Mario Bros. 2 which sold over 13.42m units on the 3DS.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe ship 1.39m copies this quarter.
Total sales are now over 61.97m units and counting.
Together with the Wii U version, the title now exceeds 70.43m units worldwide.
It’s the bestseller in the franchise.

Super Mario RPG ship 3.31m units to date. Adding 170k copies in the last 3 months.
It’s the 4th best selling Mario RPG title with 5 months on the market.

Pikmin 4 ship another 150k units in 2024.
Now over 3.48m units in less than a year.
It’s the bestselling Pikmin game.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now over 20.61m copies worldwide.
Adding 330k units this quarter.
It’s the 2nd bestseller in the franchise.
More than 40% of Zelda games sales were made on Nintendo Switch.

Pokemon Scarlet / Violet ship 560k copies in the last 3 months, now over 24.92m units in total.
It’s the fastest selling game in the series and the 3rd bestselling Pokemon title.
The Main Pokemon series sold more than 95m games on Switch.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons now totals 45.36m units in 4 years.
That’s nearly 60% of the entire series sales.
The game shipped over 570k copies in the first 3 months of 2024.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate ship 550k copies.
Now over 34.22m units shipped worldwide.
It's the franchise’s bestselling title, as well as the bestselling fighting game to date.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sold another 240k units this quarter.
The Switch version is now over 31.85m copies.
Together with the Wii U edition, the game surpasses 33.56m units.

Super Mario Odyssey shipped 310k units in the three-month period.
Lifetime sales are now at 27.96m units.
It’s the bestselling 3D Mario game, doubling the 2ndbest, which is now Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury (at 13.47m copies).

Pokémon Sword / Shield shipped a total of 26.27m units (+100k units this quarter).
This is the 2nd bestselling Pokemon game, behind the first generation.

Super Mario Party sold 320k units in the last 3 months.
Lifetime sales are now over 20.66m units, that make it the bestseller in the franchise.
The two Nintendo Switch entries represent more than 40% of the series total sales.

New Super Mario Bros. U close out the top 10 with over 250k copies in the last 3 months.
For a total of 17.45m units, which is triple the 5.82m units of the Wii U version.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is now over 13.47m copies, with an additional 300k units between January and March.

Mario Party Superstars ship 12.89m copies to date (+580k in 3 months).
It’s the franchise 2nd best seller in only 2 years trailing only Super Mario Party.

Nintendo Switch Sports ship another 630k copies, now totals over 13.11m units worldwide.

Splatoon 3 ship 11.96m units to date, including another 250k copies this quarter.
Less than 1.4m units before Splatoon 2 can be dethroned as the franchise top title.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 ship over 14.25m to date (+270k copies this quarter).
More than double the previous entry.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land exceed 7.52m units.
That’s another 560k copies in 6 months.
It’s by far the bestselling title in the Kirby series.

All 67 known 1st party million sellers on Nintendo Switch (Nintendo published only)
• Princess Peach: Showtime! debut at #64
• Mario Vs. Donkey Kong debut at #66

Nintendo distributed 35.72 million Switch games this quarter.
That’s over 1.23 billion games on the platform to date.
The software tie ratio reach 8.75 which is one of the best for a Nintendo system.

Digital Sales represent 96.9 billion ¥ for 59,5% of video game software sales for Nintendo.
This is a new record in percent.

Nintendo also reports that over 391.96 millon 3DS games have been shipped as of March 2024.
This represents 220k games sold in the last 6 months.

Nintendo recorded ¥1672b in net sales for the fiscal year.
Which is the 4th best of the last 40 years.

Nintendo’s net profit increase to ¥490.6b, setting a new record.
