We are in Harrisburg for the Senate Education Committee meeting, where we expect members to approve a school voucher bill.
This letter urging opposition to vouchers was set to every PA lawmaker today. Spending more $$ on vouchers for unaccountable and discriminatory private schools does not bring PA one one dollar closer to constitutional compliance. edvoterspa.org/wp-content/upl…
@412Justice @MakeTheRoadPA @TeachPlusPA @powerinterfaith @pafairfunding @PPAdvocatesPA @UUJusticePA @acttogethernepa @PennPolicy @LWVPA Let’s be clear that voucher supporters support sending tax dollars to schools that engage in explicit discrimination against students, like this school that expels students who becomes pregnant.

@412Justice @MakeTheRoadPA @TeachPlusPA @powerinterfaith @pafairfunding @PPAdvocatesPA @UUJusticePA @acttogethernepa @PennPolicy @LWVPA Senator Anthony Williams says that he is bothered by the income limits in the $470 million EITC/OSTC programs (too high) so he is supporting this voucher plan. Seems like lawmakers should lower the EITC/OSTC family income limits if they actually care about poor students. 🤷♀️
@412Justice @MakeTheRoadPA @TeachPlusPA @powerinterfaith @pafairfunding @PPAdvocatesPA @UUJusticePA @acttogethernepa @PennPolicy @LWVPA Senator Lindsey William states, “There is no trade for vouchers.”
Senator Pennyciuck wants to ensure that accounts in proposed voucher program will be audited. Apparently she has no concern for audits of the $470 million EITC/OSTC voucher program. Bill passes with all Rs and Senator Anthony Williams voting yes. Other Democrats voting no.
