I'm not experienced with crowdfunding boardgames. But I *am* a marketing manager by career. A couple thoughts:

Every. Single. Interaction.

Is part of your marketing. Pre sale, during sale, post sale, and actually playing.

What are your rules like to read? Is it fun?

How 1/n
How easy was your game to learn? Were there videos available to help?

Were you able to get a feel for what the game will be like to play without having to read a long rulebook?

Do you trust and like the designer? Do you know who they are?

Does the game *look* awesome?
What did it feel like to open the box? Were there annoying bits?

Was it easy to share with friends that you bought this game?

How long is the setup time?

Was the stated playtime hopelessly optimistic?

If you're stuck on a rule, how easy is it to find help?
Do your friends actually want to play it based on what they see?

If you email the company, do they get back to you?

Do the rules have examples of the sort of things that can happen?

Do the rules, or other content, give you some idea of the sort of strategies that might work?
All this leads to:
*Would you recommend this game?
Will you buy the next game this designer makes?*

Every. Interaction. Matters.

It's daunting.

And yes, you can do well on kickstarter with a pretty box. But that wont sell the *next* game.
