The outstanding woman of the day goes to Jan Baxter who spoke bravely against 2 motions tabled at the PCS Union conference. The first included an already disproven attack on Cass. #cass #unions #sexrealist #pcsadc
Jan's speech in response follows
Jan then was compelled to speak again on the following motion. This motion called for PCS to call for strike action on any anti-trans guidance. One wonders what anti- trans means. It reads very much to be carte blanche to continue to harass women and to attack womens rights.
Jan's response is below
A group of female sex realists in PCS believe that it should be shared to let people know that women are speaking out and show how impressively brave Jan has been here. It can't be underestimated how daunting and hostile that environment was for her.
We want to thank Jan on behalf of all of those who feel they can't speak out, feel afraid and silenced or members who are in branches that did not represent their views. But we also want to invite PCS members sharing our views to be more like Jan.
Also commend her on designing the best T-shirt at PCS conference. Our Lesbian Gatekeeper. Thank you and #Solidarity from all your Sisters in PCS.

A current TUC policy is:
'All trans identities should be believed and respected, and that FOR ALL SOCIAL PURPOSES, trans women should be treated as women and trans men treated as men'.
Always remember policies can be changed.

Let's think about what 'all social purposes' actually means for women. It means access to every area of life that was previously a preserve of women. This includes hospital wards, sports, prisons, health and social care, women's refuges, changing rooms and of course toilets.
2/7
What are the implications here? First, it places women at risk because we know the majority of assaults on females are carried out by males.
Second, it silences Female trade union members because a simple request for sex segregated spaces is deemed transphobic in TUC policy.
